  • Let's Get to the Heart of It: Part I

    07/09/2018 Duración: 24min

The cause for a phone call, intuition, and a few cryptic Instagram updates from last week serves as the backdrop to this week's podcast featuring Superman. It's the first part of a conversation about how God can use big events to reach us.

  • Musings on Life

    07/09/2018 Duración: 17min

  • Back to School 2018!

    10/08/2018 Duración: 10min

Back to school is upon us! Here in North Texas, our teachers (and by extension, our husbands!) have returned to school to prep for the onslaught of students. In our district, Little Miss returns this Wednesday and she can hardly contain her excitement--that girl LOVES school! It's also tax-free weekend where shoes, clothes, and school supplies can be purchased tax-free all weekend. Back to school can be an chaotic time while simultaneously it's also an exciting return to structure. Today we briefly touch on the idea of a fluid back to school morning routine, chat about the ultimate way to buy school supplies, and end with a prayer.  Check out the blog post for today's podcast at www.hailmarry.org to access two free printables: a prayer for your child's teacher (prayed on the podcast) and Bible verses for the new school year. Happy back to school!

  • Catching up with Catholic News

    03/08/2018 Duración: 10min

Some weeks go by without much happening. It's a slow news cycle. For we American Catholics, that was not the case this week! In fact, even the secular news media kind of overwhelmed us with Catholic news! Today's podcast is on the shorter side, as Kristi chats about Ex-Cardinal Archbishop Theodore McCarrick and Pope Francis's change to the Catechism of the Catholic Church regarding the death penalty. It's also First Friday! Get to adoration if you can! We also share the Holy Father's prayer intention for the month of August.  In the podcast, we discuss an article from our friend Hilary over at Messy Buns & Latin Chant. That, as well as articles linking to the news stories we're discussing, are linked below: So settle in and join the conversation. Please take a few moments to click our link to iTunes below and rate and review the podcast. Doing so moves the podcast to the "newcomers and noteworthy" section of iTunes and allows FIAT to be introduced to more people. We're so grateful! Show Notes Card

  • Hospitality & the Be Golden Initiative

    27/07/2018 Duración: 16min

Happy Friday, friends! I am so excited to chat with you today about one of my charisms: hospitality. A charism, if you don't know, is a gift from the Holy Spirit. It's how you evangelize. It energizes you. One of mine is opening my home to people and loving them with food & fellowship. In today's podcast, I'll give you my top four tips for sharing hospitality with strangers and will even cite an example telling the story of how Bridgette and I became friends. We'll also briefly chat about Blessed Brunches by Blessed Is She and the new #BeGolden initiative from the Diocese of Dallas. There's also a shout-out to #CoolCatholicWomen list-maker Jennifer Fulwiler's new book, One Beautiful Dream. Lots to chat about today! I'd love to hear how you show hospitality, too, so grab a drink, hit play on the, um, player, and then weigh in below in the comments section on the blog!

    01/02/2018 Duración: 10min

Happy First Friday! Today we wrap our Homemaking Series with a podcast geared at shifting your thinking from merely cleaning. Yes, cleaning is part of it. Yes, cleaning is probably the worst part of being an adult. But homemaking? It's so much more, and it's for all of us, from stay-at-homers to working ladies. So join our conversation on making the mind-shift in your home. We'd love to have you discuss your thoughts about it with us!

  • No-Spend Lent: an e-Book & Course!

We are so unbelievably excited for today's podcast! We can officially announce that we are launching a No-Spend Lent e-book & Facebook challenge course starting next Thursday, February 1! Last year, we completed a No-Spend Lent and it was pretty incredible. In November, we attempted a No-Spend November group with mixed results. This year, we decided to refine our experiences and compile our "wisdom" (quotes for a reason!) to bring it to the masses! So grab your notebook to jot down some ideas, listen to the hows, whats, and whys in the podcast, and come back next Thursday to be sure you download the FREE e-book and get our link for the Facebook challenge course group!

  • Our 2018 OUtlook

    18/01/2018 Duración: 15min

2018! We're here! Okay, okay, we'll grant you that we're now three Fridays (and three podcasts) into this new year, BUT this was originally planned for the Season 2 Premiere, so please share in our joy as we talk about our 2018 outlook! Last week, we talked about how 2017 was a great and trying year for us. We've also written about how we want to be intentional this year, referencing our #GratefulThings2018 photo challenge and a special project we've cooked up for Lent. Today we're really excited to go into a little more detail about all of these things! Next week, our podcast expands on what our Lenten project is, so make sure you're following all of our social media channels and subscribed to our mailing list (also check yesterday's post for a teaser!).

Check out our photo challenge #GratefulThings2018 on Instagram at www.instagram.com/hailmarry9499 and follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

  • Small Business Saturday & Subsidiarity

    22/11/2017 Duración: 12min

Today we're chatting Small Business Saturday and the aspect of Catholic social teaching called subsidiarity! Subsidiarity is the idea that things are handled best at the local level, and I love how in the midst of the commercialization and push to acquire stuff that crops up this time of year, there's a grassroots movement to support local, small, family businesses. Grab your leftovers from Thursday, a nice drink, and join Kristi for the conversation!

  • A Child's Take on "The Star"

    17/11/2017 Duración: 10min

Little Miss is back for a child's take on a new movie! Today she joins Kristi to talk about the animated film that was released TODAY from Affirm films and Sony Pictures Animation, The Star. Like when we reviewed I Can Only Imagine, we were given advanced preview tickets to a screening of this movie a few weeks ago, and Little Miss was able to come, too! There are a few spoilers in the story here, but then again...its' a very well-known story. It's a perfect Advent family film...but don't take our word for it! Take the word of a child.  Check out the coloring pages here, other activities for kiddos here, and the discussion guide mentioned in the podcast here.  Have a great week!
