  • S11E54 Scotland Friendlies Special: Graham Alexander

    21/03/2022 Duración: 49min

It's international week for the Men's National Team, though not the week we were hoping for as the awful situation in Ukraine has postponed the World Cup playoff Semi Final until June. Instead, we have a couple of friendlies against Poland at Hampden on 24 March before setting off to either Wales or Austria five days later depending on who loses their Semi Final. To preview those friendlies, John B is joined by 40-times capped Scotland international, and current Motherwell manager, Graham Alexander. Graham gives his views on the postponement, and how it may impact the squad. We divulge on the latest squad Steve Clarke has picked, which includes two of Graham's players, and how Graham feels it will be utilised over the two matches. We also cover off Graham's main memories growing up as a Scotland fan and his main memories during those 40 caps, including the famous double victory over France in the Euro 2008 qualifying campaign. Graham then gives TWO six-aside teams, one based on his favourite Scotland player

There are some food hacks, monopoly board chat, secret pies and Guess Who. We finish off with best goals that have meant nothing and some shout outs to some of our sponsors. Graeme gives us an insight in to how he got involved with The Hampden Connection which is a fascinating story in itself and gives us a brief summary of what Football Square's Mile is in relation to the history of the different Hampden parks. Julie tells us how she got involved as the poet and we are lucky enough to hear some poetry too. Keep your eyes out for a wee SFF Podcast pietry competition and maybe some poems on the back of it. We are lucky enough to have them both on ahead of a very important date in Scottish football history of 11th March. There is chat around the campaign to make the area of Hampden and the old ones a UNESCO heritage site too. 03/03/2022 Duración: 01h04min

In a double-host and double-guest special, regulars Jeff and John B are joined by friends and authors Kevin Donnelly and Mauro Bonvicini. The pair met at San Marino v Scotland in October 2000 and have remained friends ever since. Without giving too much away, he explains the concept of the book which is based on part-fact part-fiction from Scotland's qualification to France '98 and from the finals themselves. All the proceeds from Le Kilt are going to the Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal. Mauro has the unusual tale of being an Italian who took a fascination to Scottish Football going back to the Mexico '86 tournament. He talks about this journey that led him to attending several Scotland games over the past 21 years and led to him writing his own book called "Il Ruggito di Hampden", written in Italian to tell his tale to his natives. The rest of the chat centres around both guys best and

In this episode, John B and Ross are joined by Rangers fan and author Alistair Aird. Alistair then discusses his love of Rangers and how it began by looking at a programme of a League Cup Semi Final against Dundee United in 1986/87 that had Davie Cooper on the front cover. He attended his first game in 1988 at the age of eight, so naturally the nine-in-a-row years is his favourite era. He also fondly recalls last-day title wins over Aberdeen and the Alex McLeish title victories of 2003 and 2005, plus the memorable run to the UEFA Cup Final. We then move onto Alistair's love of writing and how he's combined this and his love for Rangers by releasing a series of books on individuals and era's of the club, including the autobiographies for Davie Wilson, David Robert
