In the latest of our Euro's preview podcasts, we have part one of our commentators specials as John is joined by Sam Matterface, the voice of ITV. Naturally, we lead onto the England v Scotland game, being covered by the station, and he promises balance as he is joined by Lee Dixon and Ally McCoist. • S10E76 Euros Fans Special 2: Podcast Peldroed

    28/05/2021 Duración: 55min

The countdown to Euro 2020 continues with another fans special as John is joined by Wales fan Russell Todd of Podcast Peldroed. Russell begins by talking in depth about how the podcast came about and how well it's been received, especially when he's recognised at games. Naturally, the conversation leads onto Wales glorious run to the Euro 2016 Semi Finals, starting with the building blocks put in by the late Gary Speed, crucial changes made by Chris Coleman, culminating on that famous night against Belgium in the Quarter Finals. Having now got the tournament bug after a 58 year wait, Wales have qualified again and Russell assesses their chances of getting out of a very difficult group, with Italy, Turkey and Switzerland in their section. We round off by getting Russell's best 6 aside team, he had plenty of talent to choose from. • S10E75 Super Six Special

    27/05/2021 Duración: 01h53min

For the last podcast of the domestic season we have assembled a side a side team to discuss the season in the Premiership. The two John's are joined by Greig, Krys, Nory and Scott. We discuss the success of St Johnstone and their remarkable achievement of winning a cup double. Can they keep hold of Davidson? There is chat surrounding other teams and missed opportunities. Who have been the signings of the season? There is no debate really over what the guys regard as the poorest signing of the season. Are clubs giving managers enough time in the job? There is some surprise that Steven Gerrard is now the longest serving manager in the Premiership. There were six managerial changes over the course of the season and two announced they will be leaving their clubs at the end of the season. Clubs have already started releasing players ahead of next season where there looks like there will be massive changes at the likes of Aberdeen, Celtic and Motherwell in particular. To conclude the podcast we announce our up

  • S10E74 Euros Fans Special 1: 3 Lions Podcast

    24/05/2021 Duración: 51min

In the first of three fans specials featuring the home nations, John chats with England fan, and host of the 3 Lions Podcast, Russell Osbourne. Russell begins by telling us his podcasting journey, and how it's kicked on with a mix of reviews on all the England teams and a few retro podcasts, including one about the first ever International back in 1872. He then tells us about his England experience, which started by getting a ticket for the Scotland game at Euro '96 (we don't want to discuss that one) and what it's like following them at several major finals. We then preview the upcoming finals and how he rates England's chances of winning the tournament. We round off with some quickfire questions, including an interesting choice of favourite football food and a six aside England team. • S10E73 Scottish Cup Final Preview

    18/05/2021 Duración: 01h30min

This week John is joined by St Johnstone fan Nory and ex Hibs player Kevin Harper as we look ahead to the Scottish Cup final. We discuss how we expect the game to go, possible selection issues and who will win. No surprise on either side as to what the guests think. The merits of both managers being candidates for Manager of the year are discussed when you consider what has been achieved regardless of the result on Saturday. Kevin gives particular focus to how the game in Scotland could develop with more youngsters getting their chance at an earlier age. He agrees with Ally Graham who was on last week that the reserve league should return. This leads on to chat about the Celtic and Rangers Colts teams being accepted to the Lowland League. The podcast concludes with Kevin talking about his football academy and launch of a youth team that he has set up in Glasgow. • S10E72 Ally G Indaplayoffs

    11/05/2021 Duración: 01h13min

This week John is joined by ex footballer Ally Graham to give an assessment of what happened in the Lower Leagues this season. Ally gives his predictions in terms of who he thinks will win the playoffs and we reflect on the predictions that we made at the start of the season. We discuss whether it is better having constant games or a break during the playoffs and whether the structure of them is correct. A couple of Ally's old clubs have had successful seasons but there is surprise news with Ray McKinnon leaving Queen's Park after they won League Two. The Lowland League proposed that Celtic and Rangers colts teams join the league which we both agree is ridiculous and a slap in the face for those teams who are trying to climb the pyramid. The podcast concludes with discussion about mental health in football from when Ally finished playing and looking forward to the Euros. • S10E71 Euros Special: The Media

    10/05/2021 Duración: 01h57min

Did you hear the one about the Welshman, the Englishman and the Scotsman walking onto a Podcast? In the first of our preview specials for this summers delayed Euro 2020 Finals, John spoke to men from media outlets of the three home nations in the tournament to assess their chances of progression. First up was Ian Mitchellmore of Wales Online. Ian purrs over his nation's incredible run to the Euro 2016 Semi Finals five years ago, including that memorable Quarter Final win over Belgium largely thanks to a sublime goal from Hal Robson-Kanu. He then talks through the job that Ryan Giggs and Robert Page have done to get the team to this summer's finals and their chances in a tough group containing Italy, Switzerland and Turkey. The recording was done prior to the announcement that Giggs won't be at the Euro's due to his recent assault charges. Ian is also hoping to be going to the Finals as part of his role so fingers crossed all works out for him. Next up, we had Sky Sports commentator Gary Taphouse to get an

  • S10E70 Motherwell 30 Year Scottish Cup Anniversary Special

    05/05/2021 Duración: 02h07min

In this special feature, we hear from four guests giving their memories of that Cup run. • S10E68 Fantasy Scotland Squad

    27/04/2021 Duración: 01h55min

After last week where we discussed who should go to the Euros, this week John is joined by Scott and Tony. We stick with the Scotland theme as we become involved in a bit of fantasy and pick a squad of Scotland players from 1990 onwards. There are some names who are absolute certainties but it's interesting to note that in certain positions we've struggled for quality for a long time. Back in the 90s, we qualified for four tournaments so it's fairly natural that the majority of the squad would come from then. There are some more recent inclusions and lets hope if we do this again in future that more from the current squad will be involved. • S10E67 Scotland Squad Selected

    20/04/2021 Duración: 01h36min

John and Scott are on this week with the topic of choice being the Scotland squad for Euro 2020. Before we discuss that though there is chat about the European Super League and potential consequences if it gets off the ground. It's just under two months till Euro 2020 so we discuss who we'd like to see in the Scotland squad and who we think Steve Clarke will pick. There aren't maybe too many differences but from feedback we got from listeners and friends of the podcast there are certain players who have been regulars in the squad who may miss out. Due to Covid it's likely that there will be a larger squad than the usual 23 so we pick 26 players. We discuss the blow of losing Ryan Jack to injury and whether there should be calls for certain players to come out of retirement. Scott is in the minority when it comes to one player getting picked which makes for a good bit of banter on the podcast. • S10E66 Pipe It Up (No Disco Tech)

    13/04/2021 Duración: 01h17min

John and Tony are on this week to discuss current events in Scottish football. The main focus of the podcast is a round up of the weekend action in the Premiership which we link in with previewing the weekend's Scottish Cup ties. We look at the lower leagues and who may potentially end up in promotion and relegation playoffs assuming that they get played. Once again, the ongoing saga at Celtic is discussed as they are still without a manager as it seems the man they want is considering other options. • S10E65 Guest Special: Greig (Man of Steel)

    06/04/2021 Duración: 01h29min

We've a treat in store this week as one of the original regulars on the podcast joins us for a guest special. John is joined by Motherwell fan Greig. The show kicks off by discussing recent events with Alexander replacing Robinson as manager. This leads on to chat about David Turnbull and whether he will go on to be the best player to have come from Motherwell in the last 30 years or so. There is discussion about the Scottish Cup win in 1991 and the need for a win in modern times so that the current generation of fans have something they can relate to. Greig talks is through his favourite away day in the cup too. It's standard when we have a guest on to do some slowfire questions with them which we do and is is tradition we finish by asking Greig to pick a best eleven of players he has seen play for his club. 30/03/2021 Duración: 01h20min

John and Tony are joined by Iain from The Famous Tartan Army magazine. Naturally, the main focus is on Scotland and their matches against Austria and Israel. We discuss what it may mean going forward as we look to qualify for Qatar 2022. There were some positives to take with one of the main ones being Che Adams who combined well at times with Ryan Fraser in the Israel game. Tony brings up a good point about VAR in context of some questionable decisions in the Austria game. The podcast concludes with some chat around appointment of Stephen Glass at Aberdeen and the news that Scott Brown will join him. Is Roy Keane on his way to Celtic? Only time will tell. Thanks to everyone who got involved on Twitter by showing us their tops they were wearing to watch the games. • S10E62 Guest Special: Grant Stott

    18/03/2021 Duración: 01h33min

In the latest of our guest specials, John B is joined by celebrity Hibs fan Grant Stott. The conversation starts by how the two arranged the podcast, which was when fellow actor Colin McCredie retweeted a pre-France '98 STV screenplay "The Game" starring the late Andy Gray, which was based around three friends watching the 1978 World Cup. Grant then talks about his current role hosting The Afternoon Show on BBC Radio Scotland and how much he enjoys that role. We go back in time to delve into Grant's rise to fame from Go45 and See You, See Me through Wemyss Bay 902101 to Fully Booked, plus his stints hosting Children In Need Scotland. This leads onto his Panto roles and why he loves playing the Pantomine Villain, including such interestingly named characters like Flash Boaby, Gobina McPhlegm and Hibernia Hardup. Here's hoping that Panto will be back to normal this year after Covid killed off the Christmas tradition in 2020. Grant describes his love of Hibs and how he didn't get into football until the early

John and Donald are on the latest podcast as they discuss what's been going on in Scottish football. Neil Lennon recently left Celtic and we discuss that too. There is more positive news for a couple of clubs as since our last podcast, St Johnstone won the League Cup and Rangers clinched the Scottish Premiership. At the bottom end of the table it's not looking good for Kilmarnock though. Our chosen theme this week is football films and documentaries. Donald and John were both lucky enough to see the new Alex Ferguson film, Never Give In at the weekend which is a tremendous watch. We discuss some of our favourites and recommendations from our listeners. We pay tribute to the late Ian St John after his recent passing away and our memories of him on Saint and Greavsie. • S10E59 Guest Special: Stephen Wright

The two John's are back together this week and they welcome a man who they used to cheer on from their Aberdeen days in right back Stephen Wright, who also played for Rangers, Bradford City and Dundee United and won two Scotland caps. Stephen begins by discussing his current role at Dundee Football Club as Head of Academy, overseeing the clubs youth development programme. He discusses the current challenges faced by the Coronavirus pandemic and potential cuts caused by no fans at Dens Park. We move onto Stephen's playing career, which began at Aberdeen having signed an S-Form. He talks about the influence of senior players such as Willie Miller, Alex McLeish, Stewart McKimmie and Robert Connor when he was learning his trade and breaking into the first team. He very nearly became a league winner in his debut season on 1990/91 before a last day defeat at Ibrox handed the title to Rangers. Wright went onto play more than 150 games for the Dons, playing in two more cup finals and helped the Dons escape relegati
