To understand the Book of Revelation it be necessary to understand what it doesn’t say. There are many popular misconceptions about what the Book of Revelation is all about. Sometimes these misconceptions are based on certain unchallenged assumptions about what Revelation teaches. If we are to have any chance of understanding it, we must make sure that we understand what it doesn’t say.

Written to Christians at a time declaring yourself to be a Christian could cost you your life, Christ reveals to His Church a glimpse of Heaven and the Throne of God where, despite all the turmoil happening on earth, there is perfect peace and joy. This glimpse of Heaven is a beautiful insight into the glory and majesty of God.

The original audience of the Book of Revelation were enduring massive persecution on two fronts. Tens of thousands of believers had already been martyred, and things were about to get a lot worse. Against this backdrop the Lord gives this Revelation to John to convey to the seven church of Asia Minor. This Revelation shows how different God’s perspective on world events is compared with ours.

By and large this speculation has resulted in failed prophecy predictions and therefore much discredit to the Bible’s authority.
