Elections have consequences on our small business. Yesterday I decided to treat myself with afternoon tea. I was watching Youtube and saw a vlog on Americans having afternoon tea in London. Now, if you have never been to an afternoon tea with all the good stuff that comes with the tea, go out and try it. So I found a local place in Palm Beach that does afternoon tea. However, when I got there I was the only one there. Restaurants and bars, and the tea room was empty. That made me so sad because I know how businesses have really struggled through this covid mess. I love small businesses and I want to see them survive. But if government keeps trying to shut them down and tax them at higher rates, as Biden wants to do, we have a problem. As of yesterday, Joe Biden killed off jobs and business by his executive orders. His economic plan on the first two days are political promises being kept to his political base and not good sense policies to create more jobs. On a day where over 900,000 people filed for unemployment benefits he decides to play politics and kill off more jobs. Here is the deal, and I have been saying this now for months, we have to be conservatives financial managers of our personal finance lives and our business lives. I got an E-mail this morning from IHeartRadio listing the nominations for the 2021 podcast awards. I wasn't even close to the list. I didn't even know there was an award. Now I know. :-)As a business and family mediator I listen to a lot of disputes. Some so heated that you can tell by their eyes they want to kill the other side. Others just want to get to a resolution. The most successful mediations are those who have it in their heart to resolve an issue. Joe Biden wants to create a $15 minimum wage increase. Now small businesses have a razor edge margin. Right now small business has been hit hard by Covid, no government hand out is going to help small business. They need to get back to business and open their doors. However, to increase small business costs is not the right time. Look at teh bigger business picture, an increase in wages also increases payroll taxes, workers compensation insurance, and a whole bunch of of other costs. That $15 and hour goes up to $18 an hour with all of the other costs. The highest cost of any business is salaries and wages, to any business in the United State and around the world it's the same story. Blacklisting is unethical and discriminatory. The legal term of a blacklist is a list of individuals or organizations designated for special discrimination or boycott, also to put a person or organization on such a list. So when companies put people on lists that they don't like their political beliefs they blacklist them, they discriminate against them. As consumers we have to understand ethics. The question we should be asking ourselves now is if Facebook, Google, Twitter and Apple are ethical in pushing their political agenda onto their consumers. As the Capital came back last night into session, after being attacked by anarchists', members of Congress were calling each other names and there was almost a heated physical fight on the floor of Congress. This hate does not represent the American people. When Congress can't unite after being attacked and a person killed, there is too much hate and irresponsible actions and words from members of Congress - a nation is in trouble.
