SMI Pod: Designed To Be Worthless - The Incentive Study That Wasn't
13/06/2019 Duración: 27minRead the full report: http://bit.ly/2wdvNEa Recently, Patrick Tuohey held a press conference about the findings in the report: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyVBIJ59yIo&t= Kansas City’s recent study of economic development incentives found that such incentives offer a return on investment almost four times that which was invested. This dramatic discovery runs counter to the vast majority of research on the value of such economic development subsidies. Based on multiple open records requests over the past few months, it appears the $350,000 “Kansas City Incentives Study” was fatally flawed from its inception and completely unresponsive to the city council’s directive. Nearly $200 Million in Tax Breaks?
09/05/2019 Duración: 08minWe’re in the twilight of the legislative session here in Missouri, and as tends to happen, it looks like there’s going to be a legislative twist at the end. General Motors, the American car conglomerate, is reportedly considering a $1 billion expansion at its Wentzville auto production facility in the suburbs of St. Louis. The first the public heard about the proposal was on May 1, meaning that if the legislature passes a tax incentive plan of any kind for the company, General Motors will have gone from nothing to likely millions of dollars in hand in the course of only about 18 days.
