  • Whoopsidoodle Part 4

    10/07/2020 Duración: 04min

We dun goofed again. This week Danny isn’t feeling spectacular and Caleb had some unexpected scheduling problems. So we are taking a sick day and being sure to wear our masks in the process. Don’t worry, we will be back next week. Probably. What a bummer too as there was great topics we wanted to discuss together. Don Lemon said Jesus wasn’t perfect (wrong). Tik Tok is a national security risk. Terry Crews, the world’s manliest man, gets into hot water saying things that make sense. All great topics for next week I guess. Do you have any thoughts about anything we talked about today? We want to hear from you and what you think. You can either find us on Instagram at NobodySpecialPocast or Facebook at NobodySpecial Podcast. Or go to http://www.thegospeloutpost.com/nobodyspecial/ and let us know what you think. • Nobody Special 122 | Parenting in Covid and Prophetic Dreams

    03/07/2020 Duración: 01h02min

A pastor has a prophetic dream that goes viral. Are we all doomed or should we even take this guy seriously? Also, parents, be encouraged during this time to spend time with and love your children. Parents have truly stepped up and learned how to balance work and school simultaneously. Now, with school slowly looming in front of us, we may face the issue of needing to shelter again. Enjoy the time with your children and love them as you won’t always have that time together. Be like Dr. Claire Wenham who understands that, hey, life happens. Then we talk about the most recent Prophetic dream that went viral from Pastor Dana Coverstone. Normally, he would not have recorded this type of thing but feels he has a message for what comes ahead. We look at the idea of being a prophet, spiritual dreams, and whether we should even take them seriously. “And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men

  • Nobody Special 121 | Princess and the Frog and Statues

    26/06/2020 Duración: 01h07min

Disney announces that Splash Mountain will be a ride based on the Princess and the Frog and people are upset even though Song of the South had some real racism issues. Also, we talk about tearing down statues across America. The recent events of America politics have gotten everyone thinking about issues of race and protesting racism. All this mixed in with cancel culture and a society that refuses to think critically about issues creates real problems. On this episode Caleb and Danny talk about the relevant issues and how we can come together as the body of Christ in unity. “Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” (‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:31-32‬ ‭ESV) We could each side do with some grace filled critical thinking, where we encourage one another to stand on the foundation of truth. Our actions should guide our feelings which fuel our actions.&nb

  • Nobody Special 120 | Abolish The Police?

    19/06/2020 Duración: 01h03min

Recent events have called for the abolishing of police. But is this idea a good idea and how do we represent Christ in this current time? Danny and Caleb discuss on this week’s episode of Nobody Special. There is an ongoing debate as to whether or not we should abolish the police. While we do believe there are cases of police brutality that need to be addressed, abolishing the police does not seem like a good idea. It removes the accountability for actions while putting people at risk. This simply cannot be the solution. In every case positive case, we have seen the police force joining the community in a form of incarnational ministry. “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.”‭‭ (John‬ ‭1:14‬ ‭ESV)Forgiveness for our enemies and for our friends should be hallmark traits for the Christian. It expresses the grace of God to those around us just as Jesus did to us.Do you have any thoughts about anything

  • Nobody Special 119 | Outer Banks and Forgiveness

    12/06/2020 Duración: 01h10min

With all the time at home, we have been binging The Outer Banks on Netflix. We talk about friendship and forgiveness as the primary themes and see how this applies to the life of the Christian. Have you been watching Netflix? Then you have certainly been up to date on the most popular shows. Or you have been watching Fuller House like Danny has. Either way, you have probably seen recommendations for The Outer Banks. This show takes viewers through the story of John B and his friends who go looking for treasure, sunken ships, and ultimately, John B’s father. But along the way they need to unite as friends and find forgiveness among themselves. Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threef

  • Nobody Special 118 | A Radically Moderate Stance on Race and Riots

    05/06/2020 Duración: 01h04min

Tension run high across the country as everyone looks to reform race relations and civil rights. Now, as Christians, we have the obligation to be the light of Christ in the world around us. Caleb and Danny have an honest conversation about the recent current events involving George Floyd, the peaceful protests, as well as the looting. Are the issues being too conflated with one another? And how should the Christian represent the faith during this current civil crisis? We know this topic might be controversial, but it is precisely these moments that we must wade into the culture with grace, love, and kindness for those around us. “I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord,

  • Nobody Special 117 | Christ Returning and Spiritual Discernment

    29/05/2020 Duración: 50min

We open up the question bag and to talk about Christ returning and how we should feel. Then we talk about the spiritual gift of discernment. Caleb and Danny recently had a long talk about how we should feel when Christ returns. And we weren’t done. On this episode we talk about how we should feel with the return of Jesus Christ and what is appropriate for the Christian with regard to sadness. Then we talk about the spiritual gift of discernment and how people who don’t have that specific spiritual gift can still have discernment. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. (Revelation 21:4, ESV)Do you have any thoughts about anything we talked about today? We want to hear from you and what you think. • Nobody Special 116 | Apologetics and Spiritual Rest

    23/05/2020 Duración: 01h03min

We mourn the loss of Dr. Ravi Zaccarias, beloved pastor, evangelist, and apologetics as we look into apologetics, disagreeing view points and finally talking about spiritual rest. Nick B. turns in a fantastic question from our YouTube channel on whether we feel Christians should actively engage in researching the disagreeing viewpoints with Christianity. Caleb and Danny talk about being an apologist and the specific calling some find. Thanks for the fantastic question Nick B. Then we talk about spiritual rest and how to be sure we are finding time to rest in the glory of God. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30, ESV)We want to hear from you and what you think. • Nobody Special 114 | Ahmaud Arbery and Justice

    08/05/2020 Duración: 59min

Ahmaud Arbery went for a jog on February 23, 2020 and never expected that he would be pursued, shot and killed. Now, the community is grieving in light of new evidence. As Christians, this is our opportunity to be the light in times of darkness as we talk about justice. The issue of justice should be approached by Christians with the understanding that we are called to seek out justice, to care for the voiceless, and value human life. Also, though, we are to treat even our enemies with the grace that Jesus Christ treated us. Join Caleb and Danny as we talk about justice and how we can be the light of God in difficult situations. “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:19-21‬ ‭ESV)If y

  • Nobody Special 113 | Anxiety and Identity

    01/05/2020 Duración: 01h04s

Anybody anxious out there from being stuck inside? Or from other people going outside? Yeah. Us too. Join us as we talk about anxiety and finding our identity in Jesus Christ.Anxiety and identity are two things everyone wrestles with at some point. Especially now with quarantines in effect and ending, people seem to be struggling with some kind of anxious feelings about tomorrow and what tomorrow brings. But, when we trust in an infinite God, we can rest in the mercies of God which are new every morning.“For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah” (‭‭Psalm‬ ‭62:5-8‬, ‭ESV‬‬)Also, we talk about the clear spiritual battle going on and how we have been coping with it and the various weird ads we have been getting on YouTube. We want to hear from y

  • Nobody Special 112 | Media Consumption and Whether We Should Watch

    24/04/2020 Duración: 01h07min

The world is in quarantine and media use is up. But should Christians even be watching and what should we be willing to watch or not watch? Everyone is watching more and more media. Some of it good. Some of it definitely not good. But where is the line for Christians and the media we should be willing to engage in and how do we think critically about our media choices? Caleb and Danny discuss where they put the line and how we can be discerning and grow in our faith as we watch different media. Ultimately, we should be willing to engage the culture while not sacrificing our heart in the process. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8 ESVAlso we catch up on what’s going on in our shelter in place lives, movie trailers, and what we want to do when everything opens back up again! We wa

  • Nobody Special 111 | Stimulus Checks and Stewardship

    17/04/2020 Duración: 01h02min

United States issues stimulus checks this past week and if you are like Danny and Caleb, you wanted to spend it on the most ridiculous things. But, this is an opportunity for us to be good stewards of the gift we have been given.Every American Christian is now considering the issue of stewardship. For some people, the question will come in needing to pay bills and pay down debts. Others will need to struggle with whether or not they should buy some excessive purchases. The issue of stewardship runs deep within the Bible. From finances to relationship, to talents, treasures, and time, we call can be good stewards of the things we have been given. “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew‬ ‭6:19-21‬ ‭ESVThen we discuss the coming need for genero

  • Nobody Special 110 | Persecuted Pastors and Cultural Coronas

    10/04/2020 Duración: 01h01min

Governmental overreaching or just the church refusing to respond appropriately during a time of crisis. The boys of Nobody Special jump head first into Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne and how the church can be the church during crisis. We all heard the news of Tampa Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne of The River Fellowship in Tampa, Florida being arrested for refusing to comply with a safer at home order. Yet, it seems like Christians are divided on whether this arrested is appropriate, needed, or constitutional. We discuss how we can be the church during these times and when civil disobedience is needed. Also, we talk about the statements made my Kenneth Copeland. Because how can we not. Really. Prosperity Gospel just making promises and proclaiming things it can't keep. Shade thrown. We want to hear from you! Let us know in the comments your thoughts on this episode. • Nobody Special 109 | The Tiger King and Sin

    03/04/2020 Duración: 01h01min

The Tiger King is neither about Tigers nor Kings. But it is an excellent caricature of what happens when we fall into the sin of pride. Also, what else are we gonna talk about? Because its not going to be that OTHER thing. On this week's episode, Caleb and Danny talk about the thing other than the one pandemic-y thing going around; The Tiger King. This eccentric cast of character involving wild animals and a murder for hire plot has enraptured the world with its overly compelling story. But for all their quirks they provide a picture of a life surrendered to the three sins of life.Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. (1 John 2:15-17, ESV)Also, we talk about Quibi. But only for a Quibi. It

  • Nobody Special 108 | Constructing Danny's Faith

    27/03/2020 Duración: 01h20min

Danny unpacks his faith, the struggles along the way, and the comfort from God in the second part of our special on constructing our faith. With Caleb’s story being told, Danny talks the helm to talk about the various struggles of growing up. In this episode, we get candid about the struggles we have faced and the temptations along the way. For things that seemed so difficult at the time, now appear to be so obviously the hand of God. In short, Danny’s life only makes sense when he is able to trace the hand of God through it. Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.”‭‭ (Philippians‬ ‭2:12-13‬ ‭ESV)Where do you see the hand of God in your life? Have you had the opportunity to think about your faith story? Let us know in the comments and share this show with your friends! Also, now more than ever, t

  • Nobody Special 107 | Corona Virus, Church, and Community

    20/03/2020 Duración: 53min

It’s like the Mad Max of toilet paper out there. Danny and Caleb look at the Corona Virus and how the church can and should respond. Wash your hands people. Danny and Caleb experience the pandemic sensation that is corona virus panic. Neither of us are medical professionals but we are Christians and know that the church has always had a role to play in showing being the light in the midst of the darkness. We look at how the church should respond to this crisis and what we can do to be Christ-like to our neighbors during this time. “So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours

  • Nobody Special 106 | Constructing Caleb's Faith

    13/03/2020 Duración: 01h20min

We stop deconstructing faith and construct faith instead by telling our story. You won't want to miss part one of this two part series on Caleb's journey of faith and the struggles along the way. Danny and Caleb start the journey of talking through their faith. The highs, the lows, and the ups and downs. Caleb shares his story and how he became a Christian and what difficulties he faced as he sought to make the faith his. Even being from a good home, there were many challenges and difficulties along the way and finding the balance between heart and mind became the task that Caleb would wrestle with even now. “Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so th

  • Nobody Special 105 | Doom, Demons, and Angel The Movie

    06/03/2020 Duración: 01h04min

Doom, the game, is coming out so we take the time to talk about demons. Then we discuss the movie Angel starring Ricky Garcia and the spiritual message of the fighting your demons. The movie angle starring Ricky Garcia and Erwin McManus came out in late 2019. It tells the story of a Latino homeless kid who battles his demons while trying to save his community. Overall, we felt the movie was a fantastic depiction but we disagree on some of the necessary and cinematic aspects. Then, we tell the story of Ricky Garcia and the allegations of sexual abuse by his manager from the ages of 12 to 17. The role of the Christian is to protect the innocent and stand up for those whose voice is being taken from them. We wanted to share that story for that reason.“Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.” (‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭31:8-9‬ ‭ESV‬)Finally, we talk about the Doom video game and we want to know whether you thi

  • Nobody Special 104 | Should Christians Still Sin?

    28/02/2020 Duración: 01h43s

Time to empty the email bag and answer some questions! Danny and Caleb talk about whether we should sin as Christians. Seems obvious but you won’t believe where this one ends up!Danny and Caleb answer a questions from Matthew on whether Christians should still sin. And how do we handle it when Christians do? We also look at the effect of what influences us and how we can be consistent with our proclaimed theology with out lived out theology. To be fair, we based this on a tweet from Danny’s hero, JT English. Please be on our show Pastor English. “About this we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to
