Surah 26 The Poets v202-212 Session 23 The Messenger ﷺ grave concern for his Ummah. Abū Mūsa Ash'ari (ra) narrates that Rasūlullah ﷺ said, "None is more tolerant than Allah SWT at hearing abuse. People attribute children to him, yet he pardons them and continues to feed them" (Bukharee).

Surah 26 The Poets 192-201 Session 22 The Pure Creed. The Trustworthy Jibreel (A.S), Ruh Ul Qudus. "O people! I have been granted speech that is comprehensive, conclusive, yet very concise, I have also brought to you a creed that it exceptionally pure. Therefore, you need never be confused and never allow yourselves to be deceived by the confused ones (The Ahlul Kitaab).'" Hadhrat Umar (ra) continues, "I then stood up and said, 'I am satisfied with Allaah as my Rabb, with Islaam as my religion and with you as my Nabi.' Rasulullaah ﷺ then descended from the pulpit.

Muazh Ibn Jabal رضي الله عنه (S3) The second pledge of Aqabah: Musab and the Ansar رضي الله عنهم returned to Makkah alongside with some polytheists to not blow their cover - this was during the Hajj season, in the days of Tashreek, in Dhul Hijjah. Musab رضي الله عنه was given the title: ‘The Mentor’. ~70 of the Ansar رضي الله عنهم went in ones and twos to meet our Messenger ﷺ in Mina. This time, the pledge was more full of commandments, including that they رضي الله عنهم must obey in times of hardship and ease, must defend the Messenger ﷺ as they do their wives and children etc. All the Ansar agreed and gave the pledge. Included in this pledge was Muazh’s mother, Hind رضي الله عنهم. Ka’ab Ibn Malik رضي الله عنه said that the second pledge of Aqabah was greater than Badr! Such is the status of Mina - where 70 Prophets (a.s) were born and where ~70 companions رضي الله عنهم gave the pledge to The Messenger ﷺ.

Muazh Ibn Jabal رضي الله عنه (S2) In the year of grief, Abu Taalib and Khadija (a.s) had passed away. After preaching for 10 years, the Quraysh still barely followed the Messenger ﷺ - He (ﷺ) went to Ta’if and had stones thrown at him. He then asked his uncle Abaas رضي الله عنه if he could accompany him to the Uqas fair to preach. The people there took the message but didn’t accept it out of fear of the Quraysh. In the 11th year of Prophethood, our Messenger ﷺ met 6 members of the Khazraj tribe and preached to them (رضي الله عنهم). They heard the Jews in Madinah speaking of the final Prophet ﷺ and how they’d join him to beat the Khazraj - so the Khazraj men embraced it first! This meeting was a prerequisite to the first Pledge of Aqaba, which occurred in the 11th year of Prophethood. The Khazraj returned and now every household knew who our Messenger ﷺ was. In the 12th year of Prophethood, was the first pledge of Aqabah. 12 men from the Ansar رضي الله عنهم went to meet the Messenger ﷺ during Hajj. Th

Muazh Ibn Jabal رضي الله عنه (S1) Our Beloved Messenger ﷺ said: “What an excellent man is Abu Bakr. What an excellent man is Umar. What an excellent man is Abu Ubaydah. What an excellent man is Usayd Ibn Khudair. What an excellent man is Thaabit Ibn Qais. What an excellent man is Muazh Ibn Amr Ibn Jamooh. What an excellent man is Muazh Ibn Jabal [رضي الله عنهم]. What a foul man is (so and so). What a foul man is (so and so)”. Thus, what an honour it is for Muazh رضي الله عنه to be mentioned with the 2 Shaykhs, and Ameen ul-Ummah رضي الله عنهم. A physical description: Muazh رضي الله عنه was an incredibly handsome youth. He had a most handsome physique. He was tall, had beautiful teeth that appeared like lightning. Large eyes, and curly hair. Inwardly, he had a most beautiful character, extremely generous and wouldn’t say no! His age: Muazh Ibn Jabal رضي الله عنه was around 20 - 21 years old when he fought at Badr! Thus, he رضي الله عنه was born around 5 years before the Messenger ﷺ received revelation. (

al-Mugheera Ibn Shu’ba رضي الله عنه (S66) Where was Mugheera رضي الله عنه buried? It appears, and Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى knows best, that Mugheera رضي الله عنه is buried in Iraq, where the Shia have built a shrine for Ali! رضي الله عنه. Ali رضي الله عنه was martyred ~40 A.H. No one ever visited Najaf, Iraq (where the modern day shrine is) for ~360 years, believing that Ali رضي الله عنه was buried there. This was innovated after centuries and a shrine was built, although the actual companion buried there is Mugheera رضي الله عنه - ironic. Some verses in relation to the companions رضي الله عنهم - thus also al-Mugheera رضي الله عنه: Surah [80-13-16] - Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى mentions ‘Honoured scribes’. Some scholars state this includes the scribes of our Messenger ﷺ, thus Mugheera! رضي الله عنه Surah [57:10] - the famous verse, those who spent and fought before the victory (Hudaybeeya) are greater than those after. al-Mugheera رضي الله عنه belonging to the elites of course. al-Mugheera Ibn Shu’ba رضي الله عنه (S65) When al-Mugheera رضي الله عنه passed away, Jarir Ibn Abdullah رضي الله عنه said to the Kufans: “Ask for Afiyah for your governor [i.e Mugheera رضي الله عنه], because he used to love Afiyah”. The Kufans grieved over Mugheera’s رضي الله عنه passing. Afiyah is a means of protection, security and forgiveness, it aids us in this life and the next. It was this that our Messenger ﷺ advised his uncle, Abaas رضي الله عنه to ask for. No one has been given anything better after certainty, than Afiyah. Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى loves being asked for Afiyah, over anything. During his lifetime, Mugheera رضي الله عنه advised not to wail over the deceased. When one of the Ansar, Qarza Ibn Ka’ba رضي الله عنه passed away, the people wailed. Mugheera رضي الله عنه said: “What has wailing got to do with Islam? I heard the Messenger ﷺ say: ‘The one who is wailed over, will be punished’.”. (Punishment here meaning a mental discomfort is to be felt by the deceased. Excessive praise i

Surah 26 The Poets 176-184 Session 20 The Dwellers of Al Aykah - a thicket Madian ibn Prophet Ibrahim (A.S), Madian's mother was Kantura (ra). The Orator states, "My people always give full measure and weight. To give full measure and weight is more expressive than not falling short on both of them. The effect of giving full measure and full weight is much more kindly than that of not falling short.

Surah 26 The Poets 167-175 Session 19 The Overthrown Cities Angels in human form arrive at the threshold of Lut (A.S). Prophet Lut (A.S) is delivered from his nation. The eldest daughter departs the world, a spring thereupon gushes forth. The youngest daughter departs the world, a spring thereupon gushes forth. All Prophets thereafter came from an influential tribe.

al-Mugheera Ibn Shu’ba رضي الله عنه (S64) In 50 A.H, during Mugheera’s رضي الله عنه seventh year ruling Kufa, the Angel of Death (a.s) arrived. A once muscular Mugheera رضي الله عنه was now old and pale. There was a plague in Kufa, thus it’s possible Mugheera رضي الله عنه was martyred by the plague. Thus passed away; The handsome, genius and one of the four shrewdest Arabs. The best fruit from Ta’if. The one who destroyed Laat. The one who our Messenger ﷺ called his beloved son. The last to physically touch our Messenger ﷺ. Governor of Bahrain, Busra and Kufa. The warrior for Allah’s سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى sake. The grand nephew of Urwah Ibn Masood رضي الله عنه - al-Mugheera Ibn Shu’ba! رضي الله عنه He رضي الله عنه was martyred in Sha’baan, 50 A.H, aged ~80. Plagues were a punishment for previous Ummahs, however for ours, due to our Messenger ﷺ making a dua, they are a means of martyrdom for us.

al-Mugheera Ibn Shu’ba رضي الله عنه (S63) Abdullah Ibn Umar رضي الله عنهم: “Those who revile the companions (رضي الله عنهم), are not part of ‘them’”. ‘them’ here refers to Surah Hashr: 10. Verses 8-9 mention the Muhajireen and Ansar (رضي الله عنهم), verse 10 mentions we, the believers who came after and who pray for the forgiveness of those that came before, and that we should not have any hatred in our hearts towards them. Ziyad Ibn Abee had stabilised Iraq, thus asked Muawiya رضي الله عنه for control over the Hijaaz as ‘his hand was free’. The people were worried so went to Abdullah Ibn Umar رضي الله عنهم and sought help. Abdullah رضي الله عنه faced the Ka’ba and made the dua: “O Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى, save us from the evil of Ziyad”. A swelling appeared on Ziyads hand, and he passed away from this. It was Ziyad’s son, Ubaydallah who was the one that martyred Imam Hussain and his family رضي الله عنهم.

al-Mugheera Ibn Shu’ba رضي الله عنه (S62) When Muawiya رضي الله عنه faced the pangs of death he said thrice: “My day is for you, O Hujr [رضي الله عنه]”. When Hujr رضي الله عنه was imprisoned his comrades requested him to make a dua for their freedom. Hujr رضي الله عنه made the following, critical dua: “O Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى, grant us what is better, martyrdom or freedom”. Martyrdom was chosen. This dua highlights something very significant - that martyrdom was the best course for them, and thus Muawiya’s رضي الله عنه view was correct. Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى is The Greatest Judge. Many years prior to this, Ali رضي الله عنه said: “7 of your people will be killed, like those mentioned in Surah Burooj”. Hujr رضي الله عنه was referred to as Hujr al-Khayr, I.e the good Hujr. Some scholars say he embraced Islam in the year of delegations. Some say he was a junior Sahaba, some say senior Tabi’een. al-Mugheera Ibn Shu’ba رضي الله عنه (S61) Muawiya رضي الله عنه appointed Ziyad Ibn Abee as next governor of Kufa. He also governed Busra - spending 6 months in each city. With Hasan’s رضي الله عنه martyrdom, Hujr رضي الله عنه thought his binding was over, thus began speaking up. He رضي الله عنه was a supporter of Imam Ali (a.s). Mugheera’s رضي الله عنه words were true. Ziyad did not show the same treatment to Hujr رضي الله عنه as Mugheera رضي الله عنه did. Amongst other things, when Ziyad found out Hujr رضي الله عنه had a gathering in his house in which were supporters of Ali رضي الله عنه, and that Hujr رضي الله عنه threw pebbles at Ziyad, tensions rose. Ziyad sent police to arrest Hujr رضي الله عنه and solve matters. After some resistance, Hujr رضي الله عنه and 13 of his close allies were arrested and sent to Ameer ul-Mumineen Muawiya رضي الله عنه. Ziyad sent a letter that there is witnesses that testify to these men criticising the Khalif.

al-Mugheera Ibn Shu’ba رضي الله عنه (S60) Hujr Ibn Adee رضي الله عنه was a supporter of Imam Ali رضي الله عنه. When Hasan رضي الله عنه gave Baiyah to Muawiya رضي الله عنه, Hujr رضي الله عنه was the first to say to him: “O son of The Messenger! ﷺ. It would’ve been better if I died before this day! Why did you do this?”. Hasan رضي الله عنه replied: “To prevent bloodshed”. How did the supporters of Hasan رضي الله عنه react to his decision? There was 3 groups; 1). Acceptance and Happiness straight away. This includes Abdullah Ibn Jafar رضي الله عنهم 2). Initially weren’t happy, but later accepted. This includes Qais Ibn Sa’ad رضي الله عنهم. 3). Weren’t happy, yet accepted reluctantly. This has 2 subsections - a). This binding is only until Hasan رضي الله عنه is alive. This included Hujr Ibn Adee رضي الله عنه. and b). This binding is only until Hasan and Muawiya رضي الله عنهم are alive. This included Hussain رضي الله عنه. An aged Mugheera رضي الله عنه knew his time was near. Mugheera رضي الله عنه said th

al-Mugheera Ibn Shu’ba رضي الله عنه (S59) Ameer Muawiya رضي الله عنه appointed Sa’eed Ibn al-Aas رضي الله عنه as governor of Madinah. In 50 A.H, Sa’eed lead Imam Hasan’s رضي الله عنهم janazah. Aqeel رضي الله عنه was asked by his son, Muhammad (r.h), who is the noblest of the Quraysh. Aqeel رضي الله عنه replied: “Myself and my mother’s son [Ali رضي الله عنهم]. After this, Sa’eed Ibn al-Aas رضي الله عنه is sufficient for you”. Sa’eed رضي الله عنه passed away just before Muawiya رضي الله عنه, around 57-59 A.H - thus he was protected from witnessing the fitnah that ensued. A noble woman was known to give birth to extremely intelligent and wise sons. Muawiya’s رضي الله عنه close circle suggested he should marry her. Muawiya رضي الله عنه did so and the son that was born was Yazeed Ibn Muawiya. Thus we can note that Yazeed had 2 traits: Intelligence and wisdom.

al-Mugheera Ibn Shu’ba رضي الله عنه (S58) Sa’eed Ibn al-Aas رضي الله عنه once asked for some water, and someone from a dwelling brought it. The person was in debt and was going to sell his house. Sa’eed رضي الله عنه intervened and cleared the man’s debt of 4,000 Dirhams! Such was his generosity! When Umar رضي الله عنه was martyred, Sa’eed رضي الله عنه proposed to Umm Kulthoom bint Ali رضي الله عنهم, and gifted her 100,000 Dirhams. Umm Kulthoom and Imam Hassan رضي الله عنهم were happy with this, but Imam Hussain رضي الله عنه didn’t want to go through with it. So Sa’eed رضي الله عنه said: “I will never enter anything that Imam Hussain رضي الله عنه dislikes”. Sa’eed رضي الله عنه was the one who lead Imam Hassan’s رضي الله عنه janazah! Sa’eed رضي الله عنه was of those who personally defended Ameer ul Mumineen Uthmaan رضي الله عنه when he was besieged - however Sa’eed didn’t receive permission to draw his sword.

Ibn Asâkir reported that Ikrimah said, "Ibraheem's (as mother was called Ameelah and Ibraheem (as) was knows as 'Abu Daifan' (Father of The Guests). It is said that when his father Târekh was 75, Ibraheem (A.S) and his other brothers Nâhoor and Hârân were born. Hârân had a son called Loot (A.S).
