    This time on the show we’re going to hear from 11 musicians performing on Make Music Day, Monday, June 21.  Make Music Day started in France in 1982 and is now celebrated in 1000+ cities in 120 countries across the globe. This year, for the first time, Kansas City is part of the celebration. The event is a day of FREE music, concerts, and events that stretch from Lemonade Park in The West Bottoms to Knuckleheads in The East Bottoms, and from Kansas City International Airport to 18th & Vine. Hundreds of musicians, of all backgrounds will perform, from classically trained musicians in the The Kansas City Symphony to 16 year old singer/songwriters like Kate Whitefield and the students from School of Rock.

    This week on the Eight One Sixty, we'll celebrate Record Store Day: Drop #1 happening this Saturday, June 12.Are you familiar with Record Store Day? It’s been happening around the world since 2007 and it’s a day to celebrate the culture of the independently owned record store. Here in KC, we are blessed with so many great record stores.Have you seen the list of Record Store Day exclusives for this drop? It’s massive and filled with great stuff. We'll run through some highlights from the list and play music from them. We’ll hear from Conor Oberst, Ben Howard, HAIM, Lupe Fiasco, Beck, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and The Chemical Brothers.We’ll also hear from two acts that just announced massive tours with KC dates - Garbage, at T-Mobile Center on Sunday, Sept. 19 with Alanis Morissette and Liz Phair.
