On this week's episode of the Eight One Sixty, we’re going to Quarantine and Chill. We'll slow things down a bit and play some calm downtempo, electronic and instrumental music. Also, as we’re several days into quarantine, we’re going to play some music created during isolation. We’ll hear brand new stuff from Tiny Spys, a new project from Dominique Sanders; Shadow Figures, a new project from Jadethelibra and Dallas Gutschenritter; Pala Zolo a side project from Eric Guy Davis of Hembree; plus Bijuu, Jaclyn Bell, Trevor Turla & Reginald Chapman, and Kadesh Flow. We’ll also hear music from Olympic Size, an excerpt from a 2010 film soundtrack from "We Will Make You Whole Again" (directed by Justin Gardner). We’ll hear the new single from Jónsi of Sigur Rós, an older one from Hermon Mehari — a KC musician who currently calls Paris home — and an amazing spoken word piece from Kate Tempest. On this week's episode of the Eight One Sixty, we're joined by special [virtual] guest, Madisen Ward of Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear! Madisen is a great singer-songwriter, film geek, pop-culture fan, a talented showman and a bit of a comedian. He's taken all of these traits and turned them into a series of recordings that he calls "Quarantunes." On the show we'll play several of his Quarantunes and enjoy his storytelling during these weird times. Also on the show, we'll play brand-new music from The Sluts, Kerosene Culture, Lava Dreams, Una Walkenhorst, Quiet Takes, Sam Wells and Ivy Roots. Some of the music came out recently, some comes out this week and some is a preview of music coming out soon. Despite the current state of things, there is so much great music coming out and we're happy to share it with you!

Another New Music Tuesday ahead! Despite all of us being at home and practicing social distancing, there is still so much new music coming out from KC musicians. We’ll play brand new music from 10 acts on the show and we’ll talk about some upcoming live-streaming shows that you can catch at home. On this week's episode of the Eight One Sixty, we turn our attention to new music and upcoming livestream concerts! Just because we are all in our homes doesn’t mean that concerts must stop and that new music can’t still fill the airwaves. We’ll hear brand new music from They Call Me Sauce, Fullbloods, R.I.Peter, Nick Siegel, and The MGDs.  We’ll also hear new music from a very cool compilation put together by our friends at Manor Records, called "Keep The Change." The Bridge has been celebrating Women's History Month by playing great music and sharing stories from so many amazing women in music. On this week's episode of Eight One Sixty, we'll do a deep dive into historic women in KC music, and to do so we brought in Bill Brownlee. Bill Brownlee is a long time concert reviewer and music writer for The Kansas City Star, contributor to KCUR 89.3, he’s been blogging since before the word “blog” was a word, he’s worked for music labels/distributors but most importantly for this show, he knows his stuff when it comes to KC music history. Here’s a couple teasers for you: in 1985, Tears for Fears were playing in KC and stayed at the hotel that is now the InterContinental Kansas City at the Plaza. While staying there, a woman was in the lounge singing and they loved her voice. Two years down the road, they reached out to her and had her sing on a massive song of theirs, which also featured Phil Collins on drums. On this week's episode of the Eight One Sixty, we’re throwing a lovefest! We’re getting an early start on Valentine’s Day and digging back in our KC music catalog to do so. We’ll play a variety of love songs — some happy ones, sad ones, feel good ones and angry ones too. For this week’s show, we’ve got music that’s between seven and 20+ years old! In addition to playing the songs, we’ve reached out to the musicians for a little back story on these love songs. We’ll hear music from Cowboy Indian Bear, Frogpond, Kristen May of Vedera, The New Amsterdams, The Appleseed Cast, Elevator Division, It’s Over, capybara, The Gaslights and The Get Up Kids. It’s all about David Bowie on this week's episode of Eight One Sixty! We're talking about this weekend’s two tribute shows: the 5th Annual The Band That Fell To Earth KC Tribute To David Bowie at recordBar on Friday, Jan. 24 and Saturday, Jan. 25. For the fifth year now, 13 of the city’s most prominent rock, blues, jazz and folk musicians will come together to celebrate the great David Bowie. Every year the shows sell out, so get your tickets now! On the radio show we’ll be joined by band leader, Michelle Bacon, and she’ll tell us about this year’s events, guest musicians and charities involved. On the show we’ll listen to some David Bowie, we’ll hear The Band That Fell To Earth KC’s treatment of Bowie’s “Boys Keep Swinging,” and we’ll also hear music from one of this year’s special guest collaborators, Heidi Phillips, formerly of Frogpond and currently performing with Danny Krause.

Eight One Sixty is kicking off 2020 with two special guests stopping by The Bridge studios! First up is photographer, event organizer and activist Anna Selle, who will talk about the Bandwaggn Winter Formal happening this Saturday, Jan. 11, at The Mulberry Room. Bandwaggn Kansas City's mission is to empower girls and trans youth to build community through authentic relationships, and lead a movement toward collective liberation. The event will serve as a fundraiser for the cause. Then we'll sit down with Claire Adams and she's going to share some brand new songs with us! She's got a big show coming up this Saturday, Jan. 11 at recordBar and she's collaborating with Rewound, a contemporary string trio and together they'll perform an amazing night of music.
