Their music has been featured in a Super Bowl commercial, huge Hollywood films and they've been in rotation on The Bridge for a long time, but this proper debut release is an amazing collection of songs and is one of Chris's favorite albums of 2019. In addition to the new album, Yes You Are and OLIVIA FOX will take the stage at the Kauffman Center For the Performing Arts for a special Hometown Concert & Holiday Reception for Members on Monday, Nov. 25.

    This episode of Eight One Sixty welcomes the musicians from Quixotic's brand new production, Sensatia Cirque Cabaret. We're joined by Shane Borth, En Vee and Ben Muñoz, who will talk about the amazing new show and music. The show is happening every weekend at Crown Center, from now through November. After that we'll hear some music from Krystle Warren who is back in KC from France for two special performances this weekend, at Polsky Theater in Johnson County Community College's Yardley Hall. Krystle will perform her double album, "Love Songs," with a 12-piece band, and the Owen/Cox Dance Group has choreographed dance pieces to every song. Also, this Saturday is the eighth annual OUTER REACHES VIII Fest at recordBar. A half dozen bands are part of the event, and we'll hear from a mysterious duo called Thunder Jackson, one originally from Oklahoma and the other from the south coast of Wales.

    This week on the Eight One Sixty, we're doing a deep dive into The Original PorchFestKC. It’s all happening this Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. in three different neighborhoods: Roanoke, Union Hill and Longfellow. PorchFestKC event organizer Kathryn Golden will join us and give us all the details about the fifth annual event. If you aren’t familiar, it’s very much how it sounds — it’s a music festival that happens on people's porches. Bring your lawn chairs, comfortable shoes and cash for tips for the bands and for the many food trucks at the event. It’s a great way to spend your Saturday. The fest features 150+ KC and regional acts playing on 50+ porches, and we'll hear from several acts playing: Nicole Springer, The Center State, Joseph Warren & the Wanderlust Revival, Kat King, Deanna Ray, Classical Revolution KC, Pretend Friend and Courtney Krause. After that, we’ll hear some brand new music from two great KC bands, Other Americans and Yes You Are.

    On this week's Eight One Sixty, Chris will be talking about this weekend's 2019 Plaza Art Fair. In addition to the 240 artists showcasing their art and 20 restaurant booths there are three stages hosting nearly 50 acts of live music. One of those acts is Miguel Antonio, and he’ll be joining us on the show — he's playing the Main Stage on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 2 p.m. We’ll hear a couple new songs from him, talk about other acts playing the event and go over some art fair logistics as well. We’ll hear from these acts playing on Ink Magazine’s Stage at Ward Parkway and Pennsylvania: LA Jones, DeMaur, OLIVIA FOX, Nicole Springer, Oh Nelly featuring Colin Blunt & Fritz Hutchison, Caroline Blubaugh, and from KKFI 90.1 FM’s stage, The Rebel Song Academy.     On this week's Eight One Sixty, Chris will be playing songs featured in movies at the Middle of the Map Film Fest. The fest runs from this Wednesday, Aug. 28 through Wednesday, Sept. 4 at Screenland Armour, and will screen 20+ films from around the world: feature films, independent flicks, award-winning movies, rockumentaries, documentaries, along with with a mini music fest, and short films.  On the show we'll hear music and trailers from the films, plussome of the bands playing at The Rino and Old Shawnee Pizza at Repeal 18th - NKC as part of the fest. Acts like The National, JAY-Z, Pedro The Lion/David Bazan, Queen, Arrested Development, Nublvckcity, Soultru, Good Saint Nathanael, and Jim Gaffigan and his take on Hot Pockets.     On this week's episode of Eight One Sixty, we welcome one of the hardest working musicians in KC, Enrique Javier Chi of Making Movies. Making Movies are having an amazing year — they released an album with Rubén Blades, received love from NPR Music, played shows all around the map and so much more. They’re coming home to throw their amazing fifth annual music and arts festival, Carnaval at Knuckleheads Saloon on Saturday, Sept. 7. The event has two purposes: one is to blow you away with a great show from an impressive lineup of bands: Making Movies, Las Cafeteras, Grand Marquis, ÉSSO and more.
