Before he begins his four weeks of countdown shows, we'll get a preview of some of his favorite recordings of 2019, his favorite 119 Recordings of 2019 and some of his favorite concerts of 2019.

On this episode of the Eight One Sixty, we welcome musicians Una Walkenhorst and Chase The Horseman. They’re playing a big show on Thursday, Nov. 21 at The Brick, alongside Whoa Dakota from Nashville. We’ll talk about the big show and hear music from all three of their catalogs. We’ll also debut two brand new songs from each songwriter — one from Chase and one from Una Walkenhorst and Brent Windler of Sons Of Great Dane.

This week on the Eight One Sixty, we welcome Yes You Are into the studio. On Friday, Nov. 15, they are releasing their debut album, "Here's To The Great Unknowns." We're going to take the hour to preview the new album and to hear the stories behind the songs. Their music has been featured in a Super Bowl commercial, huge Hollywood films and they've been in rotation on The Bridge for a long time, but this proper debut release is an amazing collection of songs and is one of Chris's favorite albums of 2019. In addition to the new album, Yes You Are and OLIVIA FOX will take the stage at the Kauffman Center For the Performing Arts for a special Hometown Concert & Holiday Reception for Members on Monday, Nov. 25.

On this episode of the Eight One Sixty, Chris is joined by Aaron Rhodes — one of the youngest music journalists in KC and one of the most involved in #kcmusic. He runs Shuttlecock Music Magazine & Podcast, works for Do816, is a contributing writer for The Bridge and The Pitch. He's a promoter, and we'll be talking about his upcoming show, The Big Gig #2 ft. TisaKorean and Judiciary at recordBar, on Thursday, Nov. 21, with TisaKorean, Amira Melanin Wang and Solomon. We'll also hear some of his favorite songs from 2019 and talk about some of his favorite concerts too. We'll kick the show off with a friendly reminder from Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear that Jason Sudeikis & Friends present Thundergong! 2019 is this Saturday at Uptown Theater.

On this week's episode of Eight One Sixty, Chris highlights two big fundraiser events coming up in Kansas City. First up, Billy Brimblecom Jr. will join us live in our studio to talk about Thundergong! 2019, happening at the Uptown Theater on Saturday, Nov. 9. The 3rd annual event features Jason Sudeikis, Fred Armisen, Will Forte, Wynonna Judd, The Get Up Kids, Summer Breeze: a tribute to Yacht Rock, Madisen Ward of Madisen Ward & the Mama Bear and more. It's a benefit concert for Steps Of Faith Foundation. We'll also get the details about the upcoming 90.9 The Bridge Thundergong! Takeover LIVE from the KC Streetcar, coming up on Thursday, Nov. 7. Later in the show we'll hear music from two bands playing the annual Apocalypse Meow 12 fundraiser event, happening this Friday, Nov. 1 at Mills Record Company and this Saturday, Nov. 2 at Drexel Hall at The Irish Center of Kansas City. That event will feature several bands including Chris Meck & The Second Sons, The Sluts, Slights, Jesus Loves the Atom Bom

We’ll criss-cross genres and tell you about any upcoming shows these bands have on the radar as well.

This episode of Eight One Sixty welcomes the musicians from Quixotic's brand new production, Sensatia Cirque Cabaret. We're joined by Shane Borth, En Vee and Ben Muñoz, who will talk about the amazing new show and music. The show is happening every weekend at Crown Center, from now through November. After that we'll hear some music from Krystle Warren who is back in KC from France for two special performances this weekend, at Polsky Theater in Johnson County Community College's Yardley Hall. Krystle will perform her double album, "Love Songs," with a 12-piece band, and the Owen/Cox Dance Group has choreographed dance pieces to every song. Also, this Saturday is the eighth annual OUTER REACHES VIII Fest at recordBar. A half dozen bands are part of the event, and we'll hear from a mysterious duo called Thunder Jackson, one originally from Oklahoma and the other from the south coast of Wales.

This week on the Eight One Sixty, we're doing a deep dive into The Original PorchFestKC. It’s all happening this Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. in three different neighborhoods: Roanoke, Union Hill and Longfellow. PorchFestKC event organizer Kathryn Golden will join us and give us all the details about the fifth annual event. If you aren’t familiar, it’s very much how it sounds — it’s a music festival that happens on people's porches. Bring your lawn chairs, comfortable shoes and cash for tips for the bands and for the many food trucks at the event. It’s a great way to spend your Saturday. The fest features 150+ KC and regional acts playing on 50+ porches, and we'll hear from several acts playing: Nicole Springer, The Center State, Joseph Warren & the Wanderlust Revival, Kat King, Deanna Ray, Classical Revolution KC, Pretend Friend and Courtney Krause. After that, we’ll hear some brand new music from two great KC bands, Other Americans and Yes You Are.

Tune into the Eight One Sixty as we celebrate the ninth annual Middle of the Map Fest happening in KC on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 4 and 5. We’ll talk about the bands playing the fest, the venues, how to get tix and so much more. On this week's Eight One Sixty, Chris will be talking about this weekend's 2019 Plaza Art Fair. In addition to the 240 artists showcasing their art and 20 restaurant booths there are three stages hosting nearly 50 acts of live music. One of those acts is Miguel Antonio, and he’ll be joining us on the show — he's playing the Main Stage on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 2 p.m. We’ll hear a couple new songs from him, talk about other acts playing the event and go over some art fair logistics as well. We’ll hear from these acts playing on Ink Magazine’s Stage at Ward Parkway and Pennsylvania: LA Jones, DeMaur, OLIVIA FOX, Nicole Springer, Oh Nelly featuring Colin Blunt & Fritz Hutchison, Caroline Blubaugh, and from KKFI 90.1 FM’s stage, The Rebel Song Academy. We’ll also hear one from Calvin Arsenia’s new EP, "The LA Sessions," which is being celebrated on Thursday, Sept. 19 at recordBar with a big album release show.

This week's episode of Eight One Sixty features members of The Sextet, a Kansas City groove jazz collective that just released a new album, "Among Friends," featuring Calvin Arsenia, Eddie Moore, Poet Jen Harris, Miki P and so many other guests. On the radio show we’ll play some songs from the massive double album and hear the stories behind the songs and hear about the recording process. They’re celebrating the release of the new album this Sunday — The Sextet Album Release | Among Friends at recordBar. Nearly 20 artists will perform with the band through the evening, including J Ashley Miller and his project, Jametatone. We’ll play some music from him on the show as well.

This week's episode of Eight One Sixty is all about Crossroads Music Fest 2019, happening this Saturday, Sept. 7 in the Crossroads Arts District. The fest features 30+ acts in six venues, with CrossroadsKC hosting the headliners, Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear. The fest is run by KKFI 90.1 FM and organized by Bill Sundahl. Sundahl joins us for the show and we’ll play music from several acts at the fest, including: Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear, The Fey (from Lincoln, NE), The Freedom Affair, Amy Farrand and The Like, Crystal Rose Music, True Lions, My Brothers and Sisters, Violet and the Undercurrents, The Creepy Jingles and Kirsten Paludan. On this week's Eight One Sixty, Chris will be playing songs featured in movies at the Middle of the Map Film Fest. The fest runs from this Wednesday, Aug. 28 through Wednesday, Sept. 4 at Screenland Armour, and will screen 20+ films from around the world: feature films, independent flicks, award-winning movies, rockumentaries, documentaries, along with with a mini music fest, and short films.  On the show we'll hear music and trailers from the films, plussome of the bands playing at The Rino and Old Shawnee Pizza at Repeal 18th - NKC as part of the fest. Acts like The National, JAY-Z, Pedro The Lion/David Bazan, Queen, Arrested Development, Nublvckcity, Soultru, Good Saint Nathanael, and Jim Gaffigan and his take on Hot Pockets. Nathan Reusch, who curated the Film Fest with Adam Roberts at Screenland, will join us on the show and we'll talk about all of the can't miss films at the fest.

On this week's episode of Eight One Sixty, we welcome one of the hardest working musicians in KC, Enrique Javier Chi of Making Movies. Making Movies are having an amazing year — they released an album with Rubén Blades, received love from NPR Music, played shows all around the map and so much more. They’re coming home to throw their amazing fifth annual music and arts festival, Carnaval at Knuckleheads Saloon on Saturday, Sept. 7. The event has two purposes: one is to blow you away with a great show from an impressive lineup of bands: Making Movies, Las Cafeteras, Grand Marquis, ÉSSO and more. We’ll hear music from those acts on the radio show. And the other function, the fest serves as a fundraiser for the band's music education nonprofit, Art As Mentorship, which helps youth in underserved communities learn about music and even gives them an opportunity to record in a real studio.
