On this week's episode of the Eight One Sixty on 90.9 The Bridge, we welcome two guests. First up is Kadesh Flow. We’ll hear about what music he’s working on right now and get a preview of KC RiverFest 2019 — where he is playing in three different bands! The massive event is on July 4 in Berkley Riverfront Park; it’s KC’s best firework show with a bunch of great KC bands, including Marcus Lewis Band/Brass & Boujee, Eems, Barnaby Bright, Deshtet, Rachel Mallin and The Wild Type, Jessica Paige, Kansas City DJ Joe, and The Zeros KC. There’s also a pop up Maker Fair from The Strawberry Swing Indie Craft Fair, KC Crew outdoor games, food trucks, kid activities and more. After that we’ll welcome Chase The Horseman and we’ll hear brand new music from him. He’ll tell us about a big film project he’s working on right now.

On this week's episode of the Eight One Sixty, Chris and Sarah are joined by special guest James Carter, AKA Sarge. James is a retired military man who loves music, and studied music at Belmont University in Nashville and at Park University. He runs You Found Music, a musician collective that helps with bookings, marketing and other business dealings. He also does the booking for Old Shawnee Pizza at Repeal 18th. If you haven't been up there lately, North Kansas City, Missouri is booming right now and he's got a very full concert calendar on a great outdoor stage right next to Chicken N Pickle - Kansas City. We'll also hear from acts that Sarge works with: Savanna Chestnut and The Field Hands, Megan Luttrell Music, Zach Pietrini, Josh Del, Ryan Manuel and the Getaway, Daryl Wayne Dasher Music, Leslie Tom and Featherburn.

This week's episode of Eight One Sixty is all about Boulevardia 2019! The sixth annual beer, food and music festival is happening this Friday, June 14 and Saturday, June 15 in the Stockyards District in the Historic West Bottoms — in the areas around Kemper/Hy-Vee Arena. The fest features more than 50 acts on three stages and also hosts a silent disco. On the radio show we'll give you some helpful tips to make your festgoing experience even better. We’ll hear from fest headliners: Fitz & The Tantrums, Young the Giant,Dashboard Confessional, lovelytheband and DJ Jazzy Jeff. Then we’ll hear from some KC acts playing the fest: The Freedom Affair, Belle & The Vertigo Waves, Brooks Brown, Crystal Rose and Ha Ha Tonka.

This week on the Eight One Sixty, we’re talking about the Jane Doe Revue: Female Rock Orchestra - A Benefit for Abby's Fund, happening at recordBar on this Saturday, June 8. The Jane Doe Revue is a female rock orchestra formed in the spring of 2017. The mission of this project is to bring together women of any age, culture, affiliation and label to honor women in every shape and form and make music together. We’ll hear music from some of the women playing at this fundraiser and get details about the event from special guest and The Bridge's Content Manager, Michelle Bacon. We’ll play music from Amy Farrand and The Like, Other Americans, Blue False Indigo and Violet and the Undercurrents. After that we’re going to dive into some brand new music and hear from KC/Lawrence acts: Mene Mene, Volker Brothers, Jason Buice and Kemet the Phantom, plus Young Dubliners, who are performing at the KC Irish Center this Friday.

This week's episode of Eight One Sixty will bring a bunch of friends in, joining us to celebrate Chris Mowry's Big Birthday Show. The concert is happening at recordBar this Saturday, June 1 with three bands: Dreamgirl, Fullbloods and Dylan Guthrie & The Good Time Guys. Mowry is the production manager at recordBar and he’s calling the shots on the show this week. He’s bringing with him members of and music from all three bands playing his birthday gig and has also picked out some music from Y god Y and In The Pines to play on our show. We'll also do a 7 Questions segment with Mowry and all of his guests — hilarity will ensue.

For the first part of the show we’re joined by the fellas from Larsen. They just released a brand new EP and we get to hear the stories behind each song as we play the EP for you.  After that we hear new music from Quixotic, whose new EP comes out on Friday and they’re part of a massive celebration called Reflecting Motion: A spectacular outdoor art experience at Union Station Kansas City on Saturday. We hear the brand new single from Jake Wells Music, maybe you saw him on The Voice last season - and we hear new music from Jaclyn Bell, from her new EP that came out a few weeks ago.

On this episode of the Eight One Sixty on 90.9 The Bridge, we welcome back Sarah Bradshaw! She’s been out since February, when she and her husband had a lovely baby girl. It’ll be great to have her back on the air! We're going to talk about a massive craft and maker faire happening in KC on Saturday, May 11 called The 5th Annual Spring Swing!, part of The Strawberry Swing Indie Craft Fair series of craft shows. Three bands will be part of the event and we’ll hear from all of them: Betse & Clarke, a new project from Chris Hudson & Chad Brothers, and brand new music from Grand Marquis. We’re also going to hear brand new singles from Me Like Bees, Berwanger, The Creepy Jingles, Lily B Moonflower Music, Wills Van Doorn and Simon Fink & The Wires Alternative String Duo. This week's episode of Eight One Sixty will feature Merle Zuel, founder of the MerleJam Transplant Fund & Concert. Merle was a long-time door guy at Knuckleheads, and back in 2007 he had a heart transplant. Over the past decade, Merle became a registered nurse and formed this event to raise money for transplant recipients and to raise awareness for organ donation. The concert is this Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4 at Knuckleheads.

This week's episode of Eight One Sixty will feature TWO guests. Cowboy Indian Bear is one of Chris's all-time favorite KC-area bands, and they’re performing a reunion show this Saturday, April 27 at The Bottleneck. It’s part of the big album release show for Hembree. The show is nearly sold out and should be an amazing night. Then, we’ll be joined by one of the founders of a new organization in KC called Women on the Rise. Leah Watts joins us to talk about the nonprofit organization and their mission to educate, empower and elevate women in all aspects of music and the music industry. They’re hosting a special event on Saturday, May 11, and we’ll get the full story about the event and what they’re working to accomplish. In this segment, we’ll hear music from Leah Watts and Erin Eades. Then, Aaron Shinn of Lazy Projector will preview four songs from the band's brand-new EP, "Evoco," as they get ready for their album release show, next Saturday, April 13 at The Brick.

On this week's Eight One Sixty, Chris chats with Mike Alexander and Chris Wagner of Hipshot Killer. The band just released a brand-new album entitled "All This Time Is Ours." They'll be playing all the tracks on the album and share a few stories behind the songs. This week, the band is celebrating the album release with a show at miniBar on Saturday, March 30, with Arson Class and Midlife.

On this week's Eight One Sixty, Chris chats with the band Mess, as they get ready to celebrate the release of their full-length debut, "Learning How To Talk." They'll talk about their big show on Saturday, March 30 at The Rino, preview some music from the new album and hear some stories about it. After that, we hear from two musicians who used to call KC home and are coming back for gigs — Supa Flowa tonight at The Encore at Uptown Theater and Payge Turner on Thursday at The Rino. We hear a new song from DeMaur, who is playing tonight at The Rino. We also hear the new single from Berwanger — it's so catch you'll be humming the chorus all night after you hear it. And if we have time, we'll throw in a little Metric as Emily Haines brings her band to The Truman on Thursday.

This week's Eight One Sixty kicks off with a big announcement about the Boulevardia 2019 lineup, along with music from some of the headliners! After that, Chris will chat with Sky Smeed, who is gearing up to release his new album, "Leaving Again."

Members of the band Fathers join us to talk about the release of their brand-new EP, "High Horses," and a special release show this Saturday, March 9 at 2016 Main Event Space. Also on that bill will be Eems, Belle & the Vertigo Waves and a children's choir that will be backing up Fathers. We'll play the entire new EP and talk about it with the band, along with our 7 Questions segment. After that, we'll hear music from some KC-area bands that have inspired them — The Appleseed Cast, The Anniversary and The Casket Lottery.

Una Walkenhorst and Erin McGrane join us for this episode of Eight One Sixty. The two are co-organizing the Survivors' Stories: Stand Against Sexual Violence event this Thursday night at The Rino — an evening of songs, poetry and performance art that touches on the experience of sexual violence or harassment. You may know Una from her solo music as well as the amazing album she put out last year with her father, Bob Walkenhorst; the title track of the album, "For Tomorrow," was voted the No. 1 song of the year by Bridge listeners. Erin has been in a variety of projects over the years and is also currently known as Penny of the antique pop act, Victor & Penny. During the show we’ll hear from different musicians who are sharing their stories at the show including: Una Walkenhorst, Victor and Penny, Madison Mae Parker, Shoebox Money with Hannah Norris, Kat King and one of her projects, The Typing Pool, and more.

Special guest Claire Adams joins us for this week's episode of Eight One Sixty. On Friday night, Feb. 22, she’s collaborating with Rewound for a special concert at The Rino. Rewound is a 3-piece string band featuring Carmen Dieker on violin, Alyssa Bell on viola and Ezgi Karakus on cello. We’ll talk with Claire about that show and we’ll listen to music from three of her albums: "Claire and the Classical Revolution," "Waiting For The Winds To Change" and "Kamikaze." After that, we’ll hear two new singles from two other KC acts, The Dear Misses and Kat King.
