The massive event is on July 4 in Berkley Riverfront Park; it’s KC’s best firework show with a bunch of great KC bands, including Marcus Lewis Band/Brass & Boujee, Eems, Barnaby Bright, Deshtet, Rachel Mallin and The Wild Type, Jessica Paige, Kansas City DJ Joe, and The Zeros KC. There’s also a pop up Maker Fair from The Strawberry Swing Indie Craft Fair, KC Crew outdoor games, food trucks, kid activities and more. After that we’ll welcome Chase The Horseman and we’ll hear brand new music from him. He’ll tell us about a big film project he’s working on right now.

    On this week's episode of the Eight One Sixty, Chris and Sarah are joined by special guest James Carter, AKA Sarge. James is a retired military man who loves music, and studied music at Belmont University in Nashville and at Park University. He runs You Found Music, a musician collective that helps with bookings, marketing and other business dealings. He also does the booking for Old Shawnee Pizza at Repeal 18th. If you haven't been up there lately, North Kansas City, Missouri is booming right now and he's got a very full concert calendar on a great outdoor stage right next to Chicken N Pickle - Kansas City. We'll also hear from acts that Sarge works with: Savanna Chestnut and The Field Hands, Megan Luttrell Music, Zach Pietrini, Josh Del, Ryan Manuel and the Getaway, Daryl Wayne Dasher Music, Leslie Tom and Featherburn.

The sixth annual beer, food and music festival is happening this Friday, June 14 and Saturday, June 15 in the Stockyards District in the Historic West Bottoms — in the areas around Kemper/Hy-Vee Arena. The fest features more than 50 acts on three stages and also hosts a silent disco. On the radio show we'll give you some helpful tips to make your festgoing experience even better. We’ll hear from fest headliners: Fitz & The Tantrums, Young the Giant,Dashboard Confessional, lovelytheband and DJ Jazzy Jeff. Then we’ll hear from some KC acts playing the fest: The Freedom Affair, Belle & The Vertigo Waves, Brooks Brown, Crystal Rose and Ha Ha Tonka.

    This week on the Eight One Sixty, we’re talking about the Jane Doe Revue: Female Rock Orchestra - A Benefit for Abby's Fund, happening at recordBar on this Saturday, June 8. The Jane Doe Revue is a female rock orchestra formed in the spring of 2017. The mission of this project is to bring together women of any age, culture, affiliation and label to honor women in every shape and form and make music together. We’ll hear music from some of the women playing at this fundraiser and get details about the event from special guest and The Bridge's Content Manager, Michelle Bacon. We’ll play music from Amy Farrand and The Like, Other Americans, Blue False Indigo and Violet and the Undercurrents. After that we’re going to dive into some brand new music and hear from KC/Lawrence acts: Mene Mene, Volker Brothers, Jason Buice and Kemet the Phantom, plus Young Dubliners, who are performing at the KC Irish Center this Friday.

Merle was a long-time door guy at Knuckleheads, and back in 2007 he had a heart transplant. Over the past decade, Merle became a registered nurse and formed this event to raise money for transplant recipients and to raise awareness for organ donation. The two are co-organizing the Survivors' Stories: Stand Against Sexual Violence event this Thursday night at The Rino — an evening of songs, poetry and performance art that touches on the experience of sexual violence or harassment. You may know Una from her solo music as well as the amazing album she put out last year with her father, Bob Walkenhorst; the title track of the album, "For Tomorrow," was voted the No. 1 song of the year by Bridge listeners. Erin has been in a variety of projects over the years and is also currently known as Penny of the antique pop act, Victor & Penny. During the show we’ll hear from different musicians who are sharing their stories at the show including: Una Walkenhorst, Victor and Penny, Madison Mae Parker, Shoebox Money with Hannah Norris, Kat King and one of her projects, The Typing Pool, and more.
