I'll Call You Right Back #77 - Chad Townsend
04/07/2019 Duración: 01h39minThis week, I sit down with Chad Townsend, who is the owner of Millie’s Homemade Ice Cream. Millie’s opened about 5 years ago and has been taking over the ice cream game ever since. I talk with Chad about where he came from and how the hell someone just decides to start making ice cream for a living. Chad started cooking when he was a kid, like most of us. He quickly decided that cooking was something he wanted to do for the rest of his life, so he went to culinary school. He wanted to cook great food. Ice cream didn’t come into the picture for some years after but, here we are now. Millie’s is planting itself into the main vein of Pittsburgh Culture. Starting off with a single ice cream maker and a tapped out wife’s credit card, he had some work to do. Listen to how Chad made all this shit happen and how he turned a small operation into numerous locations in sought after areas of the city and distribution deals with local establishments like Giant Eagle and more. This episode was definitely awesome. I emailed

I'll Call You Right Back #76 Pt. 1 - JP Pitt
25/06/2019 Duración: 02h08minTHIS IS A SPECIAL 2 EPISODE WEEK! - TUESDAY I sit down with JP Pitt who is 1/2 of Pittsburgh based duo, BBGuns. JP Pitt is a dude from the New Kensington area that has been making the most unique music I’ve heard in a really long time. I honestly don’t think you can place a genre on BBGuns. When I first heard their music I immediately thought of the intensity of Run the Jewels and the experimental side of The White Stripes. I know that’s a weird combo but that’s kind of the best way I’ve came up with to describe them. JP and I talk about what life was like for him growing up as a kid, the craziness he dealt with in the early years of his life, how football consumed his whole life for the most part, and where music came into play. When you listen to BBGuns you can hear JP singing a lot but then you hear him come in with a crazy verse. I wanted to know where this bizarre sound came from and where his love of music started. We get into so much awesome shit in this episode and I found out JP and I had a lot in co

Although I haven’t stepped on a board in years, it’ll always be close to my heart. Friday is Go Skate Day so I thought it would only be right to speak with one of the OG’s. - This week, I sat down with Greg Pasquarella to talk about the complete history of OneUp Skateshop. OneUp Skateshop is an iconic fixture in the Pittsburgh skateboard scene. They opened in their West Mifflin location in 2003 and have been pushing ever since. Greg and I talk about how he got into skating, what the scene was like growing up, what skaters he looked up to, how he got introduced to OneUp, and how he eventually became the soul owner for the next decade. This whole episode tells the story of OneUp’s history and all the bullshit they had to deal with along the way. We talk about the Nike Dunk Days and how crazy that time was, what it’s like to see young shredders grow into pros,

I'll Call You Right Back #74 - Steve Turner
13/06/2019 Duración: 02h03minWhen you think of Pittsburgh, a few things immediately pop into my mind. I think of Primanti Bros, Heinz, Mikey & Bigbob, Mac Miller, and Turner's Premium Tea. These are a few staples that our city has decided on over the years. When you hear these names, the heart of the city of Pittsburgh beats a little faster and my guest this week is one that will always hold a place in mine. - This week, I had the honor of speaking with Steve Turner of the legendary Turner Dairy Farms. Steve Turner took me for a tour of Turner Dairy this weekend and it was incredible. I got see where and how all the #Yinzerfuel was made. We talk about how and when Turner Dairy was started, what it was like growing up as a member of the Turner family, the process behind the time and care that goes into making all of Turner Dairy products, the Famous Turners Premium Tea, and so much more. 06/06/2019 Duración: 01h43minThis week, I sat down with my good friend Justin Boyd. Justin is a great photographer who specializes in candid style and concert photography. I talk with Justin about his progression with photography over the years and how he began his journey. Justin first started out taking photos of his friends that were in bands and quickly made a name for himself in the city of Pittsburgh. We talk about how he went from shooting random friends to linking up with and becoming Mac Miller’s photographer for the last 6 or 7 years. Justin had the opportunity to travel the world and experience some dope shit and he shares some stories with me about what it was like to be a touring photographer. It is with great sadness that we lost such a pivotal and impactful artist in Mac Miller this year. I felt strange asking Justin about Mac because I didn’t want it seem like I was exploiting their friendship. I’m just thankful for Justin’s stories and hearing about having the opportunity to work with an incredible artist that has meant

23/05/2019 Duración: 01h52minThis week, I sit down with my first best friend of my entire life, Sam Meyer. Sam is my cousin and probably who I spent most of my childhood with. Ever since we were young I always looked up to Sam. I was lucky to have a brother and cousins that were older than me so they showed me the ropes. We talk about growing up and how Sam’s father owned a video store in White Oak, Pa. ET Video was where my love of movies blossomed so it was cool to talk to her about what it was like growing up and owning a movie store before we had anything and everything available at our fingertips. Thanks, Internet. After graduating from highschool Sam served in the Navy. We talk about what it’s like being a female in that world of mostly men, her being one of the few females in her position of Electricians Mate First Class, what it was like being in command of people, and what day to day life is like on an aircraft carrier. If you've ever listened to an episode, you probably know I ride for Streets on Carson like it is my own. - A year ago, I asked Matt to come on the podcast and talk about his roots, where his love of cooking came from, and the process of opening his own restaurant. We talk about the process of picking new dishes, the special ingredients needed to cook some dishes, where recipes come from, and how Streets executes the delicious recipes so that they are still authentic to their homes. I've always been fascinated by restaurants but I've never had the opportunity to work in one so I never fully understood how one works. This week that changes. I filled in as a food runn

Zed’s is a vintage and resale shop that specializes in everything from vintage Tommy Hilfiger and Polo to the most sought after Yeezy, Jordan, and Supreme pieces. Zed tells me about how he was selling clothes and cutting hair in his basement all while doing crazy numbers on eBay. As time went on, he eventually decided to open his own shop last year in the Southside of Pittsburgh and ever since there’s been no looking back. 11/04/2019 Duración: 01h53minThis week, I sat down with Brian Gonnella. Brian is a full time artist from Pittsburgh that has been living off his passion for years. We talk about where his love of art came from and how it’s been a consistent part of his life since the beginning. Early on, Brian fell in love with comic books and hip hop music. From there, his interests blossomed into graffiti, “street art,” traveling, and much more. We talk about how he transitioned his artwork from a hobby into a way to pay the bills, living on a Indian Reservation as part of an art residency that allowed him and other street artists access to unlimited blank walls to fill with dope work, how much work and money goes into the big murals we all see on the side of huge buildings, and how important it is for other people with bigger platforms to use their voice and make some shit happen within the community. I'll Call You Right Back #64 - Alyssa Fine
04/04/2019 Duración: 01h50minThis week, I sat down with Alyssa Fine to talk about bees. Bees and I don’t get along that well but I’ve always been curious about them. I was on the hunt for the right person, so I googled “Pittsburgh Honey” and to my surprise I came across Alyssa’s store, @pittsburghhoney. She looked super legit from the pictures on her profile so I knew she’d be the right person to talk to. I went to her shop to talk with her about how she got into this world, the process of starting your own hive, caring for your bee’s, harvesting honey, pests, the endless possibilities of things you can make using bees wax and honey, and literally so much more. This podcast is filled to the brim with knowledge. I seriously learned so much. Alyssa lives and breathes honey bees and she did a fantastic job of explaining the in’s and out’s of the bee business. I loved talking with her and learning about everything and I know you’re going to enjoy this episode. Learn something new! Follow Pittsburgh Honey on Instagram Visit Pittsburgh Honey

28/03/2019 Duración: 02h39minThis week, I get to go toe to toe with the great one, again. Ralph Martino was previously on ICYRB (Ep 31 if you’d like to check it out and get up to speed) to talk about his journey from being the obese guy you see in these first couple photos to the guy you see in the last couple photos. He completely changed his life. His fitness and health journey is unreal to hear about. 21/03/2019 Duración: 02h39minThis week I sat down with the man behind @thehouseofkutz and Chésua Hair Products. Ché is a entrepreneur that has lived all over. Growing up in Toledo, Ché had the hustle mentality instilled in his lifestyle early. We talk about what life was like growing up. I wanted to know where his incredible mindset grew from. If you follow any of his social media you can see he has a different type of grind to anything he does. His page oozes motivation and I could tell that from the beginning. He tells me about how he got duped by The Art Institute of Pittsburgh by enrolling in school and quickly realizing that wasn’t the correct path. From there, Ché walked me through how he went from hustling $5 cuts out of his dorm to finally opening his own studio, The House of Kutz. We talk about family, friends, creating his own hair products in his kitchen, and the process of manufacturing his product on a bigger scale. I really loved talking to him and hearing about all the trials and tribulations he went through. This conversa

14/03/2019 Duración: 02h44minThis week we go down the rabbit hole with gonzo producer & comedian Dustin Sussman to discuss his 15+ years adventuring through the entertainment industry and what eventually lead him back home to Pittsburgh. Dustin then talks me through how he ended up in New York City where he pursued his comedy career and eventually directed and produced a documentary highlighting longtime Comedy Cellar comedian, Rick Crom. Dustin has one of the most insane stories I’ve heard yet. I probably wouldn’t have believed half the shit he told me if he didn’t have pictures to prove it. This episode is wild. Moemaw is always trying to progress his work and push the limits of what he does with @soulslimerecords. I really enjoyed talking to him about everything he does and the attention to detail he takes when creating his music. - Check out his music before you listen to the episode.
