Panthers use last years beat down in Game 4 of SCF to keep them ready for an EDM response
11/06/2025 Duración: 36minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Jacob Winans(@JacobWinans8) for another edition of Winans Wednesday. The two discuss the Panthers going into the off day with the mindset of "winning the day." With the Panthers not hitting the ice until Wednesday, it's a opportunity to rest the body, although it's a preference to be in a rhythm, as Paul Maurice said during his media availability on Tuesday. What lesson's did the Panthers learn from getting beat down in Game 4 in last year's Cup Final to now being on the winning side? The Panthers are in rare company as far as winning by more than 4 goals in each playoff round, how do they compare to the likes of the 80's Islanders. Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch flipped the practice schedule getting the team back on the ice on the first off day as opposed to the second, is that a sense of panic? Brad Marchand and Sam Bennett are the Panther favorite's for the Conn Smythe, both also happen to be UFA's, what does t

Panthers LITERALLY beat the Oilers up in Game 3 as they took a 2-1 series lead!
10/06/2025 Duración: 35minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Josh Leucht to the show to break down the Panthers 6-1 beat down of the Edmonton Oilers, where they took the early lead one minute in, and had their foot on the gas from there. It was a penalty filled game, but prior to the Panthers taking a mult-goal lead, the penalty kill set the tone having Connor McDavid going around in circles. It was the second power play unit for the Panthers delivering again, as the top guys were on the ice for the PK's, they were able to create separation. Florida was able to get under the Oilers skin from start to finish, and it went to another level in the third period as multiple players got their fair share of misconducts. The Panthers chased Stuart Skinner in game 3, but with the beat down in Sunrise, there's a lesson that they could take being on the winning side of a demolition vs being on the losing side in game 4 of the SCF just last year. We discuss all of this and more on to

Panthers look to take control of the SCF as the series has shifted to Sunrise
09/06/2025 Duración: 36minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Nick Levine(@NJL1888) of the Cats n' Rats Podcast to Preview Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final, as the series has now shifted to Sunrise. The two discuss their impressions of the first two games, and what rare company we all got to witness as it was the sixth time in Stanley Cup Final History that they first two games of the series both went to OT. The two discus a major advantage that the Panthers could now have going into Game 3 with the status of Oilers Forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins up in the air as he is a game-time decision for Monday night. There was also a switch in the defensive pairs as each pair was different at Oilers practice on Sunday, could the Panthers pounce? Lastly, the Panthers are in a great position tied at one despite Aleksander Barkov, Sam Reinhart and Matthew Tkachuk having yet to hit that next gear in the final, and their lack of special teams scoring has been a big part of that (Panthers 3.

Brad Marchand Delivers in Double OT to tie the series in a Game 2 Thriller in Edmonton!
07/06/2025 Duración: 39minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Jackson Holzer(@JacksonH_52) to the show to break down the Panthers 5-4 2OT win over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final. It was a high event first period where we saw seven penalties and five goals scored in the frame. Florida started to control play where they scored twice taking the lead into the third. Panthers were trying to play shutdown defense in the third period, but their lack of offensive zone time had the Oilers pushing, and after multiple draws lost, Edmonton was able to tie the game with 17 seconds left to force overtime. The Oilers were the ones in control of the first OT, where the Cats had more than one chance to end it, but the Panthers were the ones who controlled the second OT, giving up only one SOG, and then it was Brad Marchand who delivered for his second goal of the game eight minutes into the second OT to give the Panthers the win and to tie the series at one. What do the Panthers need to differently in Game 2 to tie the series at 1? Nosek vote of confidence?
06/06/2025 Duración: 32minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Nich Fairbanks(@Prudentia0) for another edition of Fairbanks Friday. Nich provides his opinion on game one and the two discuss what the Paul Maurice and teammates said about Tomas Nosek after his delay of game in game 1, and is it a vote of confidence to put him back out there for game 2? The two discuss the physicality of the Oilers, how they've been able to match it, and is there a concern with the time-on-ice differential between the Panthers and the Oilers, and how much the Panthers inability to break it out of their own end has to do with it. There were signs of the Panthers exposing the bottom two D-pairs of the Oilers at times in game 1, but what to the Panthers have to do in order to make Stuart Skinner life harder? Panthers were unable to hold onto a multi-goal lead in Game 1 and a big mistake in OT proved costly
05/06/2025 Duración: 36minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Josh Appel(@JoshAppel) from 560 WQAM to the show to break down the Panthers 4-3 OT loss against the Edmonton Oilers in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final. Panthers were able to have a lead in the first period despite Edmonton having the ice tilted in their favor, a failed coaches challenge by Edmonton had the Panthers taking advantage with two goals in 1:41. Florida took the lead in the second period and had a 3-1 lead, but it didn't even last two minutes, as Viktor Arvidsson's shot from the rush got a piece of Sergei Bobrovsky and past him to make it 3-2, Florida couldn't shut things down with it being a one-goal game for a good portion of the night. After the second period, it was all Edmonton, after they got their first shot 6 minutes into the game, Matias Ekholm found the back of the net to tie the game at 3. Florida only had eight shots on net from the end of the second period on, and looked gas. Florida coul

The Florida Panthers are back in the SCF after a comeback win in Game 5 against the Hurricanes!
29/05/2025 Duración: 41minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in David Lasseter to the show to break down the Panthers 5-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 5, where the Panthers had to do it in comeback fashion. The Panthers had a sloppy first period where the goals ended up in the back of their net after poor passes in the neutral zone. The Panthers woke up in the second period with three goals in three shots in less than five minute span, including a goal that ended a drought of 10 power play opportunities without scoring, and Evan Rodrigues getting his first goal of the postseason, which makes it now 19 different goal scorers for the Panthers. Although the Canes tied it off a poor backhand pass from Gustav Forsling, Panthers Captain Aleskander Barkov fought off a check from Carolina and had a wonderful set up to Carter Verhaeghe, which ended up as the winner. Florida then capitalized on the empty netter where it was a lot of zone time, but only one shot on net on

Panthers were unable to match the Hurricanes desperation in Game 4.
27/05/2025 Duración: 36minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Jackson Holzer(@JacksonH_52) to the show to break down the Panthers 3-0 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Final, where Carolina's desperation showed with them getting back to their identity of owning the possession metrics, it was a tie game going into the second, but Carolina got a score after a stretch pass to Logan Stankovan that beat Sergei Bobrovsky over the should and in. The Cats made a push toward the end, but were unable to find the back of the net, and their personnel on the power play raised a lot of questions, despite missing a key piece in Sam Reinhart. The key for Carolina was breaking up plays in the middle of the ice to prevent quality opportunities for Florida, and it resulted in a win. The guys give their three duds, when they knew the game was lost, and also provide a vibe check from themselves and the team following the defeat. We discuss all of this and mor

Panthers Exploded for 5 third period goals to break game three open! Now one win away from the SCF
25/05/2025 Duración: 37minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Florida Panthers Historian, Francisco Oporta(@FLACatsHistory) to break down the Panthers 6-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final. The two discuss how the Carolina Hurricanes gave the Cats quite the challenge in the first 40, where they were already without Sam Reinhart, and had to go the final 40+ minutes without Eetu Luostarinen after receiving a five-minute major and a game misconduct for boarding Jackson Blake. Although the Cats got the kill, Carolina scored later in the period, and it was a tie game to begin the final frame. The Panthers used a 9:08 stretch in the game to score five times, where the Panthers got their chances off the rush after Carolina was unable to exit their end cleanly, Florida ended up taking advantage of multiple chances off the rush. The guys give their three stars of the game, when they knew the game was won, and discuss the culture clashes bet

Panthers Attacked the Hurricanes Early in the first, blew it open and now have a 2-0 series lead
23/05/2025 Duración: 34minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Nich Fairbanks(@Prudentia0) for another edition of Fairbanks Friday, as the Panthers got out to a 2-0 series lead after defeating the Carolina Hurricanes by a final of 5-0. The second line set the tone for the Cats they their forecheck was a force, created the first two goals. Now Gustav Forsling has joined in on the scoring as now it's 18 different goal scorers for them in 14 playoff games. The Cats got the best out of Andrei Svechnikov as he committed the turnovers that led to the first two goals, along with going to the box after an unnecessary roughing call on Matthew Tkachuk that the Panthers converted on the power play. The Canes looked to have cut it to a 3-1 deficit, but the Panthers bought time by using a timeout to look at the replay again where it was Brent Burns who touched the puck as it re-entered the Panthers zone, and before Carolina could tag up at the blue line, it was ruled an offside.
