Is your GP using AI during your consultations?
24/07/2025 Duración: 08minMike chats with Dr Joe Kosterich about the growing use of AI in GP clinics. Back in the ’90s, most doctors didn’t even use computers—now AI is the next big shift. While only a few GPs use it today, many will within five years. AI can create detailed clinical notes, freeing up doctors to focus more on their patients. But there are important issues too: privacy, patient consent, and the need for doctors to review and approve all AI-generated records. Dr Kosterich maintains that handled properly, AI could improve healthcare—but it must be managed wisely.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Turnbull accused of undermining AUKUS in bitter powerplay
24/07/2025 Duración: 08minMike speaks with Daniel Wild, Deputy Executive Director of the Institute of Public Affairs, about his opinion piece criticizing former PM Malcolm Turnbull’s stance on AUKUS. Wild argues Turnbull has hit a “new low” by engaging with Elbridge Colby, a key Trump-era official now overseeing the AUKUS review, in what Wild sees as an attempt to undermine the pact—motivated by bitterness over being replaced by Scott Morrison’s submarine deal. Wild also slams Kevin Rudd’s ongoing role as U.S. ambassador, citing his past insults toward Trump, and criticises PM Albanese’s recent China visit as political pandering and potentially self-serving.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Importantly, the court also clarified that criticism of Israel, Zionism, or the Israel Defense Forces does not constitute antisemitism and thus doesn't breach the law. This finding offers significant guidance for the ongoing discussion about how to define antisemitism in Australia.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Ageism alive and thriving in Australian workplaces
22/07/2025 Duración: 06minA recent national survey, "Older and Young Workers: What do Employers Think?", reveals a troubling trend in Australian workplaces: a quarter of employers are hesitant to hire individuals under 24 or over 50. Workplace Culture and Leadership Expert, Tammy Tansley, highlights that workplace ageism is a significant and worsening issue, despite age discrimination being illegal. Employers are finding ways to bypass regulations, effectively excluding older workers. Tansley argues that age doesn't dictate skill set, advocating for mandatory age-neutral job advertisements. With Australians working longer, often due to the rising pension age of 67 and the current cost-of-living crisis, older workers are a vital part of the workforce. She emphasizes that younger employees could greatly benefit from the experience of their older colleagues if employers would only overcome their biases.
