Happy Sunday Night, Angela Bowen here, the host o Together, We're Gonna ind Our Way: An Unofficial Silver Spoons Podcast. On this week's podcast episode, Ricky and Arnold get themselves into some serious trouble after Ricky’s hacking skills lead him to a military site and the FBI is alerted to their activity in S1E7: The Great Computer Caper, which aired on November 6, 1982. In this episode Ricky tries to impress a student reporter by hacking into a secret military computer site, but the FBI closes in after the material ends up in the school newspaper. The boys decide their only way out is to hitch a ride on a tramp steamer. Wow, I may not be a computer genius but this sounds a little far fetched, but hey I’m intrigued. Not to mention this is Edward’s computer, so I bet he’s gonna be super not happy. How much ya wanna bet Edward bans Ricky from using the computer for a long time. Happy Monday Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of Together, We're Gonna Find Our Way: An Unofficial Silver Spoons Podcast. This episode is gonna be a tearjerker and believe me I shed a lot of tears towards the end, you can even hear me in the clips I play, sniffling. Why is this episode so sad, you ask. Well it's because Ricky's mother comes to take Ricky back to London with her in S1E6: Evelyn's Return, which aired on October 30, 1982. In this episode Evelyn, Edward's ex-wife and Ricky's mother, shows up and wants to take Ricky back to live with her in London. Leonard tells Edward he could fight for custody, but warns him that a legal battle could get to Ricky. Divorce is never easy, especially when children are involved, so please talk to your children and hear them out, their thoughts and worries. After I finish reviewing this episode I gave my review on the Hocus Pocus Book and the Movie as well. Which is what Edward does for Ricky when he comes home from school with a black eye in S1E4: Me and Mr. T which aired on October 16, 1982. In this episode Ricky insists on going to a public school so he can be more of a regular kid, but sticks out for being rich and gets a black eye from the school bully. Determined to not let Ricky get hurt, Edward hires Mr. T as his bodyguard. You know back in 1982 we didn’t have anti-bully zones or a zero tolerance policy against bullying. Can you imagine if Ricky had to deal with bullying on social media? Yikes! You’d never be able to get away from it. At least back then if if happened at school it stayed at school. Ricky meets his Grandfather and uses the old guilt trip on him to reconcile the estranged father and son by mentioning how he didn’t have a father in his life for 12 years (his whole life) and how his grandfather’s absence in Edward’s life is just like him not having a father either. Smooth, real smooth Ricky. But, hey, it works! Ricky even uses his boyish charm and puppy dog eyes to weasel his grandfather's address out of Kate who at first doesn't want to get involved because 1.)It's a family issue (She and Edward aren't' married yet)and 2.)She doesn't want to get fired for getting involved in the dispute between Edward and his father by giving Ricky the address. In this episode Punky befriends a deaf girl. I really enjoyed this episode because it was a teachable moment from Punky. We learn that not everyone's the same and some people out there with disabilities have trouble fitting in. Punky shows us that all it takes is one person to like you for who you are and to see past your disability. Maria taught Punky sign language which enticed the other girls to want to learn as well and hopefully they all became friends. I love Punky's message to Maria about not giving up when something is hard. Happy 4th Of July Punky Peeps! Angela Bowen here, the host of Punky Power: An Unofficial Punky Brewster Podcast. Today, I’m celebrating the 100th of the Punky Power Podcast with a funny episode of the Saturday Morning Cartoon Punky Brewster entitled Call Me Ms. This episode was hilarious. Henry’s out of town on a photography gig and has hired a babysitter for Punky. Punky feels she’s too old to have a babysitter and she can take care of herself, but Henry won’t hear of it. I mean, it’s not like she’s not left home alone all the time. At one point she even tells him she’s almost a teenager. She’s 9! That’s not a teenager Punky! After Henry leaves, she asks Glomer to make her older so she can do whatever she wants and no one will tell her what to do. She gets a job at the Snack Shack across the street that is run by one person who before she arrived, was the cook, the waiter and the manager. He basically ran that place by himself and will continue to do so when he fires Punky a couple hours later. We

Ok, great, now let's up the ante and add a pregnant woman going into labor who gets stuck in there with the girls. Now Punky’s got a broken leg (as shown in the picture) so she’s gonna be out of commission and really be unable to do much, so that leaves Cherie (in her shining moment) to save the day. Now in the four seasons of Punky Brewster we’ve seen Cherie grow up along with Punky. Cherie seems a little timid and usually is ok with Punky stepping up to take control of a situation. Although when you think about it Punky tends to be the mischief maker and Cherie is the rational one. I’m looking forward to Cherie being the hero for a change and getting her moment in the spotlight. The parent/child switch a roo was very big in the 80s, with hits like Freaky Friday (I know 1970s) Like Father, Like Son, Vice Versa, 18 Again, Dream A Little Dream and also Big, so it made sense to incorporate it to the small screen in sitcoms like they do in Punky Brewster S4E17: Vice Versa which aired on May 22, 1988. In this episode In Punky's dream, Henry and Mrs. Johnson are the children while she and Cherie are the parents. This episode was coo-coo bananas crazy. Betty dressed as a child wasn’t bad, but Henry in a dark wig, now that was utterly terrifying. Interestingly enough Betty’s retort to Margaux “You’ll get through life easier if you sew your lips together” and Margaux just sits there in stunned and shocked silence. Punky, Cherie, and Margaux protest the rent increase by going to his office and chaining themselves to his desk. Also in this episode we find out that Brandon’s astrological sign is a Taurus which is apparently compatible to a Virgo. And Margaux’s father in my eyes is the devil. All he thinks about is money, Scrooge McDuck is a saint compared to him. Thankfully Margaux talks some sense into him and makes him see reason. In this episode Cherie's cousin Paula is a talented artist. When it is suggested that she enters a contest, she balks at filling out the entry form because she doesn't know how to read. This episode not only deals with the importance of literacy, but also teaches us a lesson in child safety. Put child locks on cupboard doors that are at waist level or put all cleaning products out of reach of children by storing them in cupboards high enough that a child can’t reach with a chair. If kids want something bad enough they’ll use whatever means possible, chairs, drawers etc to get to it. I really was amazed the 911 operator was so calm and reassuring with Paula. S4E12: Dear Diary Air Date: May 12, 1988 In this episode while Henry tries to throw out souvenirs he has collected over the years, Punky tries to read Cherie's diary. After it accidentally goes out with the garbage, Punky and Margaux search the dumpster to try and find it. We learn a valuable lesson here: Respect people’s privacy. Punky was like this in Season 3’s The Anniversary Episode too, all up in Cherie’s biz. This is a personality trait I don’t remember her having in Seasons 1 and 2. Maybe it’s a preteen thing or maybe we’re seeing more of Punky’s personality emerge. She’s got a “right to know” trait. This is not a flaw, she’s just got a curiousness about her. I mean if someone wrote something about me I’d definitely want to know about especially if it’s someone I know. She might even have trust issues, I mean we know she has aban
