At cockcrow, the ashes were removed from the sacrifice altar. Cockcrow is dawn. Any one of the Levites who wanted to remove the ashes would rise before dawn to bathe. The Thank offering (or Todah) is associated with the Shelem (Peace) offering. What is Paul saying in 2 Corinthians 3:6? In this teaching segment we will look at a commonly misunderstood verse: Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross. We see that the Oral Torah is the decree of the Rabbis. The Oral Torah, which includes the Talmud and the Mishnah, is the rabbis interpretation of the Written Torah. The Melchizedek Priesthood rules in the government of God. It includes the roles of king, priest and firstborn. Esau was originally in line to become the next Melchizedek priest. However, because he did not value this role, he sold this birthright and role to Jacob. Since then Esau has been trying to take this position back by force.
