  • Crossing Streams Ep. 14: Happy 10th to "The Guild"! Also, "Expanse" finale letdown

    26/04/2017 Duración: 52min

The Bizzle flies fast and solo this week, announcing the return of our TV podcasts back to BizzleCastTV after CS14. Biz talks 10 years since “The Guild” started airing online and it’s as relevant and hilarious as ever. Also, “The Expanse” finale was very disappointing but very predictably so. Finally, with Matty G tied up off-mic in award-winning sports reporting for The Cape Cod Times (@mattgoismancct on Twitter), we thank him for all his awesome contributions to the BizzleCast and hopefully he’ll be back down the road! And our “Firefly” complete commentaries will be out this summer for sure in the lead-up to its 15th anniversary in the fall. Check out more of the BizzleCast at:

  • Crossing Streams Ep. 13: MOVIES! Thor, Last Jedi, Guardians, Spiderman and more

    17/04/2017 Duración: 03h06min

"Crossing Streams" becomes a man with Episode 13, aka "Lord BrockStream." A light week of television - seriously "The Expanse," you've got one week left, get your act together - leads to another discussion about trailers, as our dexterous duo debate whether "Thor: Ragnarok," despite unquestionably succeeding at creating interest in the movie, gave away too much of the plot, as opposed to "Star Wars: The Last Jedi," which revealed basically nothing. From there it's all about whether Marvel wants to keep two cosmic franchises (three if you count "Doctor Strange") going simultaneously, especially when "Thor: Ragnarok" seems to be taking a lot of its beats from "Guardians of the Galaxy” — which took a lot of its beats from the Thor comics, in turn — and by finally giving the underrated and hilarious Chris Hemsworth material worthy of his talents. Matt also talks "Better Call Saul" and "iZombie.” We haven't had a three-hour podcast since Matt first came on the show, so plan a road trip, go run a marathon or do som

  • BizzleCast 91: HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN Film Commentary

    14/04/2017 Duración: 02h22min

In 2004, now-legendary director Alfonso Cuarón turned Harry Potter into a dark, scary, morally ambiguous teen-horror film — and it was fantastic. With Disney’s 2017 BEAUTY AND THE BEAST topping $1 billion, the immensely talented Emma Watson’s star is as astronomical as ever. While she has provided us with some fantastic non-Harry Potter roles — including THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER and THE COLONY — it was this third Harry Potter entry in 2004 by Mr. Cuarón that really brought this incredible talent to my attention. I was very much NOT a Harry Potter person in 2004 (and still not so much today), and this was the first time I had interfaced with any HP property thanks to my sister’s loving prodding, insisting that this was the first “adult” HP film (thanks sis!). I was immediately blown away by three things in this film: the bizarre, dark, stylized, and weirdly funny filmmaking by Cuarón; Daniel Radcliffe playing a MUCH cooler and more badass Harry Potter than I was expecting (“badass” was NOT a word I was

  • Crossing Streams Ep. 12: Oh Ladies of “ARROW,” Where Art Thou?

    10/04/2017 Duración: 02h24min

Not much in the way of TV this week, so Matty G. and the Bizzle kick off episode 12 of "Crossing Streams," aka "The Gathering Stream," with a deep dive on movies both old ("Lord of the Rings," "The Fifth Element," "Mad Max: Fury Road") and upcoming ("Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets," "Alien: Covenant"). Our Dauntless Duo examine the lessons "Arrow" can learn from the successes and failings of "Dark Knight Rises," and that gives us a chance to reflect on the season finale of "Legends of Tomorrow." Also, a decent start to the third-act premiere of "Agents of SHIELD" still isn't enough for Matt, "Walking Dead" has a tiger eating someone's face, and Jesse shockingly wants Katie Cassidy back in the Arrowverse. • Crossing Streams Ep. 11: Justice League trailer- more Sad Batfleck!? Also, insane Legion finale

    04/04/2017 Duración: 02h28min

The Biz beats Matty G at his own name game in Crossing Streams Episode 11, “aka Rage of a Demon Stream" as a major tribute to kick-ass fantasy writing legend Raymond E. Feist (Matt's got “aka Don't Leave Me, Streams," but Jesse's is more metal). The delirious duo rip into the latest trailer for "Justice League," which is so dishearteningly bad it has Matt completely checked out of the DCEU (Jesse still has hopes for "Wonder Woman"). Discussions of the season finale for "Legion" and latest episode of "Supergirl" ensue, then we're split on whether or not the awesomeness of Abra Kadabra is enough to save the Iris-related misogyny of "The Flash." Also, one storyline in "The Expanse" build intrigue as the other struggles to maintain our interest.  Check out more of the BizzleCast at: www.bizzle cast.com www.crossingstreamspodcast.com facebook.com/bizzlecast @thebizzle81 @mattgoismancct ALL RIGHTS RESERVED by The BizzleCast (Jesse F. • BizzleCast 90: “ROGUE ONE” Film Commentary by The Bizzle (aka HELL F**KING YEAH)

    28/03/2017 Duración: 02h08min

Let’s get this out right up front: this movie F**KING RULES. If you know the Bizzle, you know that I could not WAIT for this baby to drop so I could rub off a full-body Bizzle commentary massage on it. And now this little nugget: NO FILM other than “THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK” is a better Star Wars movie than this puppy. Yup. That’s right. I SAID IT, goddamnit. Whilst “THE FORCE AWAKENS” drew heavily from — and somewhat clumsily attempted to (over)emulate — the original 1977 classic, the Giant Galactic Nerd Boner known as “ROGUE ONE” takes the best dramatic and action elements of “Empire” and “Return of the Jedi” and delivers a glorious, emotional, and continually amazing standalone Star Wars chakra-blast that is also a gorgeous and highly relevant war film. Felicity Jones — she of the Shy Sexy Chic — is an absolute home-run who provides both more emotion and more humanity than was initially on the page for her character Jyn Erso. But there is NO DOUBT in this Bizzle’s podcast-addled brain that Mexican Hot Pot D

  • Crossing Streams Ep. 10: A Crisis of Orientalism in TV & Film

    27/03/2017 Duración: 02h10min

Aka, "The Far Side of the Streams!" We kick things off with a blistering attack on "Iron Fist," a show so awful on every level that even superhero super-homer Matty G. can't find a single nice thing to say about it. And just remember, Matt is someone who occasionally even compliments "Gotham." Brief comparisons to "Into the Badlands" (same inspiration, much more fun) and "Ghost in the Shell" (similar optics, substantively much different) ensue. From there it's on to Chris Wood's solid turn on "Supergirl," which segues naturally into the highlight of the week, the musical episode of "The Flash" that restores the light and fun to a show desperately lacking it since the Dominators attacked the fall. Also, "Legion" starts pulling its threads together as Dan Stevens becomes a star with "Beauty and the Beast," "The Expanse" continues to stumble post-Eros, and "Humans" concludes without making any clear justification for why it exists in the first place. Oh, and Matt and Jesse are really eager for "American Gods."

  • Crossing Streams Ep. 9: "Logan" is phenomenal; TV this week? Not so much.

    20/03/2017 Duración: 02h03min

AKA, "The Man with the Golden Streams!" Basically, all the TV was bad this week, so Matty G. and the Bizzle spend their time talking about movies and tv shows that hadn't started yet when they recorded. Matt throws his support behind "Logan," even if every prediction and observation he had about the film beforehand was confirmed upon viewing, then does the complete opposite with "Iron Fist," which maybe should've cast an Asian lead after all, given the bang up job Finn Jones doesn't seem to be doing. From there, our semi-dynamic duo has to admit the narrative on "The Expanse" has gotten choppy since Eros Station crashed into Venus – a sentence probably no one has ever written before. There's also more praise for Aubrey Plaza on "Legion," a show which re-purposes the single scariest scene from BBC's "Planet Earth" (ant spores!), Matt very reluctantly admitting he's started watching Wil Wheaton's "TableTop" and then nearly breaking in tears over the laziest episode of "Arrow" possibly in the show's history. • BizzleCast 88: Nintendo Switch, “Zelda,” future of gaming ft. special guest Ethan!

    14/03/2017 Duración: 01h32min

You might have heard: Nintendo just dropped a brand new console system called the Switch that may or may not (r)evolutionize gaming. My buddy Ethan joins the BizzleCast to discuss whether the Nintendo Switch will be more Wii or WiiU when it comes to innovation. Is it a console that goes portable or a portable that goes console? Or does it swing both ways equally? “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” is undoubtedly an AMAZING game, but at the moment it’s the only one on the Switch, and with reported technical issues with the controllers already casting a shadow over the future of the product, we talk the future the video and computer gaming! • Crossing Streams Ep. 8: Is "The Americans" on FX the best (and most relevant?) show nobody watches?

    13/03/2017 Duración: 01h56min

Crossing Streams hits Episode 8! After a brief opening diversion on the "Dune" novels brought on by Matty G. subtitling the episode "aka Sandworms of Crossing Streams," the Bizzle gets the low down on "The Americans," the best show on tv that you're probably not watching. From there it's on to "The Expanse," which has Matt raving about the long-awaited return of Jared Harris as Anderson Dawes and Jesse doing the same for Frankie Adams' best episode yet as the probably-going-rogue gunnery sergeant Bobbie "Gunny" Draper. Both hosts were completely on board with "Supergirl" taking on the immigration issue while adopting some of the best shooting styles of shows like "Daredevil" and "Arrow," then a fight nearly breaks out over "X-Men" before Jesse cleverly pivots to "Legion," which brought back the terror and finally answered a question or two. The two briefly discuss what web services like YouTube and shows like "Tabletop Gaming" are offering that traditional media can't, and Matt concludes with a positive revie

  • BizzleCast 87: "X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST" (2014) Film Commentary by The Bizzle

    10/03/2017 Duración: 02h13min

“Logan” is clearly the best solo Wolverine movie ever, but “Days of Future Past” is arguably the best overall X-Men movie thus far, and it could never have achieved its critical and financial success without Hugh Jackman’s Logan/Wolverine front and center with the great young X-Men including James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Holt. Like a number of my commentaries, this is a movie a I liked a lot but really started to loved on rewatches and especially during my commentary. Enjoy, X-Fans! • BizzleCast 86: "INTERSTELLAR" (2014) Film Commentary by The Bizzle

    10/03/2017 Duración: 02h50min

The Bizzle has released full film commentaries for “Serenity,” “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “The Martian,” “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” “Star Trek (2009),” “Contact,” and “Moon,” among his favorite scifi films. Here is one that has grown on me greatly over the past couple years: “Interstellar” by Christopher Nolan. Christopher Nolan is one of those directors who I always feel is a bit overrated, and yet many of his films, including the Dark Knight movies (although not “Inception”), end up growing on me over time, especially his movies that are most divisive. I like “The Dark Knight” and especially “Inception” far less than most, but I also like “The Dark Knight Rises” and this film, “Interstellar,” a lot more than others I’ve spoken with. “Interstellar” in particular has gotten better for me by leaps and bounds with each watching, mostly because of the performances of Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, and of course the amazing young Mackenzie Foy in a breakout performance from a sp

  • BizzleCast 85: "CONTACT" (1997) Film Commentary by The Bizzle

    09/03/2017 Duración: 02h26min

Highly underrated. Extremely influential. Perfectly combines the thill of the scientific project with the high adventure of inter-spatial time-traveling of the greatest hard science fiction space operas. “CONTACT” most importantly gets spectacular performances from its leads in Jodie Foster (and young Ellie, Jenna Malone!) and the irascible and unstoppable Matthew McConaughey. One of the great sci-fi films OF ALL TIME. Jump on board the Bizzle space ship express and get elevated. • Crossing Streams Ep. 7: Has "Legion" lost Biz? "Supergirl" as a highly effective anti-Trump vehicle

    06/03/2017 Duración: 02h02min

Crossing Streams hits lucky number 7! After the Bizzle and Matty G each make a movie recommendation (Jesse adores "Logan," Matt gushes over "Get Out”) the dynamic duo moves on to an interesting thought experiment: Would "Supergirl" have become what it's become (a thoughtful and highly conscious social and political commentary) if Hillary Clinton had won the presidential election? Then it's on to "Legion," which Jesse found so confusing it might have permanently turned him off to the show (sad face), and Matt concedes was at least confusing enough to justify that reaction, even if he's still on board. Both remain completely on board with "The Expanse," which is finally giving Alex and Amos a chance to shine and somehow keeps getting better and better every episode. With lots of F-bombs. Then, with the Bizzle babbling about Westworld’s disturbing social/political/pholsophical implications for a spell, Matt calls out "Humans" for giving Carrie-Ann Moss' character the kind of lazy tragic backstory that "Westwor
