This week, I sit down with Healthy Pet Products and Healthy Pet Grooming owner, Toni Shelaske to talk about how she got her start working in the pet world, why she decided on owning her own pet store, how she acquired Healthy Pet Products, the quality of products they carry, the pro’s and con’s between raw fed and kibble fed dogs, and so much more. When we got our dog, my wife and I became paranoid and obsessed dog parents. We just wanted to do all the right things from the start. This week, I sit down with George Adelo of El Guapo and the S.S.B.CLUB to talk all about New Mexican cuisine and how he decided to bring the authenticity of Santa Fe to Pittsburgh. George opened his restaurant ‘El Guapo’ in 2019. It was located in Federal Galley on the North Side and had a delicious menu with authentic New Mexican dishes revolving around the New Mexico red and green chilés. I learned that the chilés used in these dishes are the key to it all. His time at Federal Galley ended and now he is in the process of opening his own brick and mortar location for the new ‘Guapo.’ While George is sorting out all the details with that, he decided to start something to keep busy for the time being. The S.S.B.CLUB is an underground burrito club that sells some of the most delicious burritos straight off of Instagram. One day, searching through Instagram, he was looking for something of a breakfast guide to the 412. After searching, he didn’t find anything that caught his attention so he decided to take matters into his own hands. In the beginning, Zack started @wakeuppghto basically just rate the different breakfast dishes he was eating. That page has since turned into him creating these picture perfect breakfast sammys you see here. A couple years ago, I came across his Instagram because of a 6ft piece he created of Mac Miller when he unfortunately passed away. He doodled here and there but never fully committed to art. Basketball was life. He played hoops in college and after making life choices that led him away from basketball, he started to manifest his destiny a different way. This week, I sit down with Will Loevner to talk about some wild shit. Will is a goat farmer, a bicycle enthusiast, an ultra endurance athlete, and an absolute animal. I came across his Instagram because of Michael Cottle and Dirty Harrys Bicycles reposting things on their story about someone local doing some crazy shit. I did some creeping and out who it was. Will is that guy. He recently just challenged himself to one of the most gnarly rides I’ve ever heard of. He completed the Wilderness 101 which is a 101 miles trail climbing up, down, and over 12,000ft of elevation. That alone is crazy enough in itself, but for Will, it wasn’t crazy enough. I asked Matt to come on the podcast and talk to me about his journey in hopes of being able to offer a look into the life of someone who was once in a bad place but managed to get out. We talk about how his addiction started, being incarcerated, getting into recovery, empathy, and how he continues to work to be better each and every day.
