This week, I sit down with Ben Bartilson to talk about his restaurant Yoli's. Ben is someone who grew up around the same area we did. He was my brothers age and I didn’t really know him or talk to him but I knew his name from my brother and his friends. Fast forward some years and I hear about this amazing restaurant from my mom and dad. Lol It was called Yoli's. I swear every time I talked to my parents they were out to eat at Yoli’s. Antonette and I were convinced we needed to try it and we were sold. Every single thing we ate there was amazing. The pizza to the wings to the pasta. Just all around great food. I knew I had to get him on to tell me how he got things started. When you see someone you know doing something great it just makes me want to hear about how they made it happen. This week, I had a guest cancel last minute. I know. It’s a bummer but shit happens. Instead of skipping an episode or doing a shitty sounding zoom interview, I’m using this week to talk about life as a new puppy owner. My wife and I rescued a pup a couple weeks ago and ever since, we have been sleeping with one eye opened. As you can probably guess, having a puppy is a massive commitment and hard work and we are both experiencing it for the first time. From crate training, to puppy biting and “teething,” to pet insurance and more. I’m going to talk about my experience (or lack thereof) with it all. It’s been stressful but very exciting to say the least. We are all learning together and things are getting better day by day. Once I get done with new “dog dad” talk, I answer a bunch of random questions that yinz submitted to my ‘questions’ box on my story. Up until about 7 or 8 years ago, I felt like all you would hear during December was “Merry Christmas.” That was the norm. It was in tv and movies, in schools, and in stores. My wife and I were driving home a few years ago and saw their shop about a mile off of the Donegal Exit. We stopped once and we were hooked. This week, I sit down with Zach Pishney. Zach and I grew up together. I was at his first show ever and I’ve watched him turn into a god damn rockstar before my eyes. Zach is one of the guitarists for Like Moths To Flames. He was my first guest on the podcast, and then he was my 50th guest.
