In Love Your Bodd, Heather Boddy sits down with artists, activists, and health/fitness professionals to discuss body image, race, and how our insecurities make us who we are. The lack of representation in the arts and media is overwhelming. It's time to hold up a mirror to the industry and talk about how it can affect us. It's also time to hold a mirror up to ourselves and truly love that person we see staring back at us. Do you love your bodd? Episodes released weekly every Tuesday.

60 - Goal Weight: Freeing Yourself from the Number on the Scale
27/03/2018 Duración: 34minGoal Weight. Let's talk about it. Pretty much everyone has one. That number in the back of your mind that you strive for every day. That number that you pray is on the scale every time you step on. Hoping each time to be closer. Maybe you are at your goal weight! Wow! Congratulations, you are one of the few! What would happen though, if you stepped on the scale and you weren't anymore? In today's episode of Love Your Bodd, Heather explains why having a goal weight is actually depleting your happiness instead of giving you something motivational to work on. By the end of the episode, you will learn different ways to frame your health goals so that you aren't focused on the number on the scale. Setpoint/Appestat: The weight you maintain when you listen and respond to your body's signals of hunger and fullness. The weight you maintain when you don't fixate on your weight or food habits. The weight you keep returning to between diets. (from Health at Every Size by Linda Bacon) 4 Ways Your Goal Weight is "Wei

59 - Note To Self: Motivational Self-Talk | Getting Rid of that Negative Voice
20/03/2018 Duración: 41min"Change your thoughts and you can change your world." - Norman Vincent Peale "We are not disturbed by things, but rather the view we take of them." - Epiuctetus "There is nothing good or bad, but thinking makes it so." - Shakespeare What is the voice inside your head saying to you? Is it negative? If so, that's totally normal. Is it positive? That's normal, too! On today's Love Your Bodd episode, Heather sits down with you solo to teach you about self-talk and the labels we place on the events that happen in our lives. Self Talk Lesson this Episode: Self-talk: The action or practice of talking to oneself, either externally (aloud) or internally (mentally). Self-Talk is how people evaluate and respond to events in their lives. It is typical for most people to feel some things are good (staying on a meal plan, adhering to an exercise program, winning a league championship), while others things are viewed as bad (going off a meal plan, stopping an exercise regimen, losing a league championship game). 15/01/2018 Duración: 01h01min"If you quantify your wellness, it's probably not wellness." - James Rose James is a young fitness professional finishing up his Musical Theater Degree at NYU. In this episode, we talk about a myriad of things including: how he has NEVER taken a bite of meat (nor tasted alcohol for that matter), getting asked about having an eating disorder, body comparing as an actor, getting naked and posting it on social media (and why), and how he has shaped a "feel good" wellness routine for himself. 47 - Erin S: Don't Be So Hard On Yourself
26/12/2017 Duración: 46minDon't be so hard on yourself. Easier said than done, huh? Especially this time of year when we are expected to behave a certain way: cheerful, successful, all put together. There is so much pressure to be "perfect." It's an internal struggle that we face every day. Well... Erin Simon is here to tell you it's okay to let go of that pressure. Her way of letting go came from a diagnosis of PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). From this diagnosis she learned how to take care of her body by using health as an internal "preventative measure" rather than as something aesthetic or external. "I stopped thinking of fitness and how I was eating in terms of like, 'oh, because I want to look a certain way or stay on top of my appearance or whatever.' It changed from that to being, 'well, I need to manage what's going on in my body.'" We talk about this and SO MUCH MORE! Thanks for listening!! There are many ways our mental and physical health can waiver during the Holidays and I'm here to talk to you about the ways you can get through it. 11/12/2017 Duración: 55min"My brain and my voice and my ability to communicate as a human being, to me, will always be more important than what I look like," - James Rose - CAO of F4A "I've gone through very horrible body image issues and I've been through the ringer with eating disorders and so many things... so I know that I need to constantly check back in with myself and see if I'm okay, if I'm relapsing or anything like that. So, I need to allow myself to have whatever thoughts are coming naturally, but, once I do I need to choose to replace those accusations or those negative thoughts with affirmations. That's how I am able to think positive things about myself." - Caitie C - CEO of F4A "In order to have a positive body image, we need to start unpacking the societal messages of why looking a certain way is considered to be 'bad,' or 'not healthful,' or just 'ugly' even." - Kaite-Rose - CPO of F4A "I'm doing this because I want to feel my best, what can my body do instead of what can my body look like?" - Erin S.
